I speak Filipino and English and a local dialect. I haven't learned another language. I understand a few words of some but not really fluent in that language. Do you know that in my company, multilingual people earns a lot, way more than our managers have.

Yeah, if I really want to be rich, I'd better study a language. But, I'm just too lazy to study one right now. It isn't a current interest at this point. I guess, you can't teach old cows new tricks.

I had language classes back in my university days, part of my degree. I had German for one semester and French for two semesters. I can't fluently speak those two languages, though but I could say my German is better than my french because I have my aunt and my cousin who teaches me sometimes. I only know the basics in French. It's more difficult than German and it's really important to practice it everyday 'cos if we don't, we might just forget everything like what happened to my Spanish although it's easier than German and French. :p Btw, I suggest the livemocha.com site or the busuu.com (:

I can speak fluently in English, Cantonese and Mandarin. I learnt them when I was very small, we had to speak them at the lessons then it became easier later when I figured out the grammar of English and stuff.

i can fluently speak two languages -Tagalog and English and one Dialect (Cebuano). My Chinese and Deutsch levels are only basic and conversational. Since I am fond of word (mind) games I use it to learn better. I review something related to the language I am studying every night to make sure the familiarity benefits me.

Yep i think english is important because most of the people know english and it's easy to communicate. The language i really wanna learn now is Mandarin. My friends say it's a tough language but I hope i'll be able to learn it soon.

I speak English and Tagalog, but older people here in out country specially our grandparent do speak Spanish so I could understand a little. I tried learning German cause my mother used to work in Germany. I know the basics but the I didn't learn the more advance part. I do hope to continue learning the language in the near future. Chinese is also a good language to learn right now cause they are opening the country to global opportunities and thus more contacts with the Chinese people. Although I do prefer Japanese. :)

Wow that is so cool. I would like to learn Spanish someday too. Right now I'm planning on learning Mandarin. Found a few friends who are willing to help =) I'm not going to some language school though, don't think I can give it much time coz I'm still a student. Japanese is cool too. Anyway do you have any particular method on how to learn a language quick?

I wish I could! I have trouble remembering a word or two! Like Spanish for example! I work at a college and work with students from other parts of the world. I try to remember some of the simple worlds I want to learn! That rarely happens! It is very frustrating! I have enough trouble with good old english! LOL!

I speak and write both English and Spanish very fluently. It is not very difficult to learn a second language; especially Spanish. The thing with secondary languages is that you have to use it frequently while learning so that the memory develops and adapts to it easily. So I would say if you learn a secondary language you have to be around many who use it so that the more you use it the more practice you get with and the more the brain registers it naturally. I have been speaking Spanish for as long as I have been alive as most people around me growing up did not speak the English language. So it became part of my life and the only language spoken at the time. I suppose entering school I learned the English language and having everyone at school specifically speaking only English I was able to adapt. What language are you considering of learning?

I speak Japanese, Hindi, Spanish and Tagalog/Filipino but the hardest to me is Hindi that until now I'm still learning how to write and read the devanagari scripts. I started learning all those languages since high school. What I did is make a word of the day and try to use it in some conversations. I also tried to find a friend online who speaks those languages fluently, that way I'll get used to the language and it encourages me to learn more on the language. I also listen to music as well and try to understand the lyrics in Japanese, Hindi, Spanish and Tagalog.
