In this time of crisis we had to be wise in spending every penny.
As I have mentioned from my precious discussions, me and my fiance
are planning to get married next year and as decided by booth parties
we shall have it during summer vacation.
To those who are already married, could you please share some tips on
cutting cost for the expenses like invitations, gowns, reception..?
There are many things to be taken care of and I really would like to have
a nice but simple wedding. We realized we can't afford to be broke
after spending too much for the wedding..
I'll be waiting for your response! :)

Kabayan! Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!
The wedding I had 6 years ago cost us approximately Php 150,000.
We had it done in a hotel with approximately 120 guests.
The key is to make it simple, elegant and intimate.
Just invite your close relatives and friends. Saves down on food.
You can have the entourage clothes rented. Just find a good couturier.
You can do the invitations yourself. I did mine in my wedding.
Find a family member or a friend who can do the floral arrangements for you.
I think what is really important is not the wedding itself. But the marriage after the wedding. Best wishes!

Thank you. We are still thinking of spending at least Php 100,000 only. Regarding the flowers well since it is summer we're planning to buy it straight from Baguio since we have a friend who travels there often. I also am thinking of making the invitations myself too.
Yes, that's a definite winner! Of course the wedding after that is the most important!

I don't know about where you live, but here, any place that specializes in weddings will automatically be more expensive, even if they do the EXACT same thing as another business that does not specialize in weddings!
So, do not look for a "wedding" floral arrangement, just find a floral place and do not tell them it is for a wedding. Don't go to a "wedding cake" place, just go to a nice bakery.
This will save you a lot of money.

Your suggestions are also very helpful. I'll post a mental note to keep in mind never to tell where the flowers are to be used.. :)
For the cake, I'll start scouting for bakeries that make beautiful cakes for less.
I'm here in the Philippines and since the price of sugar here is soaring, I think the cost of the cake will also increase.

yeah, you are right. it does not make sense to spend so much in the wedding and then suffer in debt for a long time. i think there are couples who have done a simple and elegant wedding. well, it depends on your imagination and idea of simplicity and elegance. one thing that can really help you is to tap your friends and relatives to help out. some friends and relatives may know how to do it or know someone who knows how to do certain aspects of the wedding. in this way, you can have them in a discounted price or even free. best wishes.

would you think it's wiser to hire a wedding coordinator or would it just financially burden us? We want it to be organized. With regards to the food, we've got no problems. Do you know any sites here in the net where i can find simple yet elegant wedding invitation samples? Figured we can save if we do it ourselves.

Congrats on your upcoming wedding!! I am also planning a wedding for next year and have been looking for lots of money saving tips as we will be paying for most of it ourselves. One of the bigges tips I have gotten is to make everything you can. Also, try to find cheap recpetion sites and not hire a cater. I have been to weddings in the past where the family all cooked for the wedding. Like grandma will make her famous dish, the aunts will make something, a friend will bake the cake, ect. Also, I have been looking around for invitations that you can print out at home. They are pretty cheap and I am finding that a lot of places right now have them on sale for even cheaper! Also, try to make your own flowers (either buy the flowers in bulk or buy silk ones) Good luck on your wedding and finding great deals on everything! :)
