I hope he doesn't. It's not fair for one person to be in power for 41 years. Who does he think he is? It's not right. People like that are greedy and insane. He only cares about his own selfish wants and not the benefit of his own people or even humanity in general.

The trends right seems to be not in his favor anymore. I think there are many provinces and smaller towns and city that has turned its back with the leadership. Although his stronghold in Triploi is the only place where he is strong but I can see in the reports that they are being slowly eaten up by the rebels. I think if he could only accept defeat like Egyptian president did things would be more easier in the transition like what is happening with Egypt right now.

.Hi there rsa10, I think you are exactly right in your assessment. It is time for him to fold up his chair and go while he can do it on his own and not wait to be physically overthrown or worse. I heard this morning that the United States will now start supplying support to the rebels which will make Mr. Gaddafi's opposition that much stronger. President Obama has called on him to step aside. As a leader of over 40 years he should have good enough sense to see that you cannot lead if the people will not follow. Have some pride and take your family to a safe place, but he seems to be delusional. Thanks for your response.

I would be surprised if he remains in power. He and his children have abused his people for two long. Now that they see what happened in Tunisia and Egypt they will be more determined than ever to get him out. The question is will they get a better government than they had. I believe that Gaddafi and or some of his sons will be very lucky if they escape with their lives.

...Hi deebomb, You would think that 42 years would be quite enough for one person to control a country, but no they want to go on forever with their abuse and money grab. The son sits on television saying the family has no money, lets see what happens when they freeze "no money". After the regime leaves, you are correct in wondering what happens next. Transition takes time and we can only hope for the best. All this is a people's revolt and it is truly amazing what is going on all over the region. Your last sentence is what I am wondering as well. Thanks for your respoonse.

...Hi trruk1, Col. Gaddafi has seemingly had quiet control for all these years, perhaps through intimidation and fear. But there is as one of Gaddafi's sons said an "earthquake" going on in the region and it will not stop until a change takes place. People can only be repressed for so long and the younger generations are not going to endure such oppression. This one in Libya will no doubt be more violent and take longer than Egypt but Col. Gaddafi will leave one way or the other from the looks of things. Thanks for your response.
