Hi
yes you are right. The petrol as well diesel prices are just skyrocketing here in India. It would be really sensible to drive economically. Here are some tips for saving fuel while driving your car:
1.One of the best ways to save fuel is to simply reduce your speed. As speed increases, fuel economy decreases exponentially. But do not decrease the speed below the economic range for that particular gear.
2. Check your tire pressure:Under-inflated tires are one of the most commonly ignored causes of poor fuel economy. Under-inflated tires have more rolling resistance, which means you need to burn more gas to keep your car moving.
3. Check your air filter-A dirty air filter restricts the flow of air into the engine, which harms performance and economy. Change a dirty air filter immediately.
4. Accelerate with care- sudden acceleration and deceleration can hamper the fuel economy of your vehicle.
5. Don't start and stop engine needlessly. Idling your engine for one minute consumes the amount equivalent to when you start the engine.
6. Shift to the top gear as soon as possible.
7. Drive steadily. Slowing down or speeding up wastes fuel.
8. Drive steadily. Slowing down or speeding up wastes fuel.
9. Regular tune-ups ensure best economy; check owner's manual for recommended maintenance intervals.
10. Remove excess weight from inside of car like extra tires, back seats, unnecessary heavy parts. Extra weight reduces mileage, especially when driving up the slope.

Yes, indeed, the petrol price is increasing here in North America too. Personally, I don't use my car very often any more. I take the public transport, buses, trains, wherever possible. While driving, I do not drive too fast either. That saves the fuel a bit. And, I would not keep the engine running while staying idle either.

you should try to keep the revs low when possible, use the public transport more, get a bike :) There are solutions

Do the speed limit. Try to have a fuel efficient car. Make less trips if possible.
