hi i am from the Caribbean and it is a big issue for your parents to approve your spouse. My aunt always say that a man who cannot get along with his mother cannot get along with his wife. But on many occasion i have proven that wrong but I will like to know your views about this because sometimes parents can be very judgmental, they assume that no one is good enough for their children.

My parents don't approve of my boyfriend now, either. However,i prefer to go on because i am really happy with this guy .But i really want my parents to be agreeable with me because I think it's important to get parents' permission for they are family and really important to me.I hope one day my family will understand my happiness and accept my boyfriend.

my parents approve of my boyfriend but it is his parents i have heard them actually bad mouthing me and actually my boyfriend too. It really does not matter to me whether they like me or not because i do not think they have much blessings to pass on they have a bitter marriage. But somtimes it may take moms a little while to like our boyfriends because they probably got hurt in the pass and do not want the same for you. God's Blessing on your relationship it will work out with your mom Pray about it

As one gets older and wiser, we tend to develop a maternal instinct of what's good based on the past... a mother's approval is something to reckon with since ideally it would be beneficial to create harmony in a relationship in a couple since there would be less trouble for getting our parent's blessing and thus create a more smooth relationship on your hubby's part when it comes to your family affairs.. i agree with you that sometimes we can prove it wrong because by the end of the day it is only between both of you no matter what and nothing else matters...

the harmony part is so true because my aunt does not like my cousin's boyfriend and they argue for everything and it seems as though my aunt will never be approved of that guy, everyone knows that he has more than one girlfriend he is known for being in lots trouble and no mother wants that for their daughter especially if the girl's father was not like that. He tells her all lies and she believe but i hope their relationship last though.
