How to get a star?

I'm new here, and I realized that there is star with a number on it beside some user's username. What is that for? How to get it? Does it appear automatically when you posted a particular number of posts or others must give you votes to get it? What's the difference between star and no star?

Hi Daniel-1-0 and a warm welcome to you to myLot.
As explained above you will earn your at 100 which will happen when you have participated up to that number you are at 10 and believe me it goes fast.
However rule of thumb when you start a discussion make sure you return to comment to all responders so that you can also be rated. Rating is done by any member with 100 or more participation's.
Not returning will not give you perhaps future responses and or your earnings will be affected. You do not earn for our responses.
Best of luck and make sure to visit the guidelines so you know what is allowed and what is not, this way your efforts do not get wasted.

Yeah Daniel, I am so happy to see that you came back to comment.. If you had not you would not earn for your started discussion. Each time someone, like I am doing now responds, your discussion no matter how old goes back up to the recent discussion tab for others to see and perhaps respond to.
There are several like me that want new members as yourself succeed, we spend several hours a day simply doing that. Helping members.
So I am very proud that you have returned as many new members come here with the wrong information, then they get frustrated and leave. So you keep doing what you are doing and have fun. Before you know it you too will have the high participation points. As soon as you have 100 you will earn your first star and the higher the star the increase in your earnings.

Thank you, hardworkinggurl, and I guess you must be a really hardworking person for you have a 12218 behind your username, that is really a huge number for me! I didn't know returning to comment can be rated and perhaps get more future responses before. Thank all you guys, you help me a lot.

Hi Daniel0108. Welcome to Mylot. I am sure you will do well. Just keep typing posts and answers or comments to posts. It is fun and you make some good friends who will help you out with different kinds of issues in life.
I believe, if I am not mistaking, that when you reach 100 in your little parenthesis up there, that you will receive a star and as you continue to comment, and rated well by others, your number will continue to rise which will help with you income.

Thank you for encouraging me! You must do very well in mylot and have a good reputation, too, I guess. Because you just posted hundreds of posts to earn a big star, while some unlucky ones posted thousands but didn't earn one.(I don't know why)
