Universities offer students a large selection of elective courses. However, some think these courses can be time-consuming and distracting for students as well as a big time waster.Do you agree or disagree?

electives are fine unless they are used to present a specific point of view. Such as requiring every one to take an elective course in diversity. electives should be those courses you want to take not ones required by the University. The University should not require you to take a set number of electives to graduate.

Being elective courses, students have the option to take them or not. I think these subjects are necessary to give a sense of well-roundedness to a student's curriculum. I mean, a certain course or program has a set of subjects deemed requisites for getting a degree. But the elective courses also gives the students a chance to learn things outside of their given program.
