What the star for?

I'm new here and I realized that there is a star near some user's username. What is that? Do star users have some privilege? How to get it?

Welcome to myLot. That is the reputation of a user here at myLot. It is given when you have responded to 100 discussions. It is give based on the activity of the user here. We get positive and negative ratings depending on our participation here as other selects the plus or minus signs next to our responses. Highest rating is of star with number 10 with blue color. Thank you very much! But there is a another question, you said it is given when one responded to 100 discussions, but I noticed that some users posted thousands of posts and still don't have a star, why? It really confuses me.

Hi seanlee, As you have now learned that how star rating is given. A person with more than 100 response and no star rating is only possible when he has earned no positive remarks from any user for their responses or comments or discussion. As star is given for their positive contribution here at myLot, these user were not considered as contributing positively by other users here. This can be the probable reason of their star-less appearance here. Hope this is clear now. Happy myLotting.

Hi Dear Seanlee! First of all Warm Welcome to Mylot! As you know that Mylot is a discussion forum and every discussion can be rated as per the quality of the discussion by the fellow members ! And depending upon the positive ratings we are given the Star. The maximum rated star is Blue star with no 10 written in it! This star is normally an indicative of the quality of discussion and it may get changed as per one's performance on the forum! You will get your first star rating once you have posted minimum of 100 postings! Though some people say that the star rating has some positive impact on the earnings , I am not really sure about it! "some people say that the star rating has some positive impact on the earnings" because they have read it in the FAQs The impact is not always positive. If your star is low then it will be a negative impact.
