In Romania, recycling is paid at a very low rate, being between 0,1- 0,2$ per kilogram of aluminium / iron. Plastic and paper are rarely separated by the garbage picking companies, although in the recent years there have been some attempts toward this goal. For electronics, there hardly are any options throughout the country to get them recycled - one area of the capital city collects them on Saturday, but that's about it i know of. When i was in England, i noticed people collected materials for recycling and took them too recycling centres on their own expense which i really appreciated. I can also confirm that the price paid for aluminium (cans) is quite good, as I had a friend that used to collect it in Germany after concerts, and loaded a car with it, and he said he got quite a nice sum of euros for it. So how about recycling in your country ? Do you get paid for it, do you do it on your own ? Do give details, i am really interested to know how this happens all over the world.

I've been into this for most of my life. Down here in South Australia they pay really well for drink containers (plastic & glass bottles, cans & cardboard drink containers). There are many recycling centres here, all of which pay ten cents per drink container! Scrap metal pays well at the moment too. Top grade copper is sold in the same places for seven dollars fifty a kilogram (China pays at least double that, I hear!), & other metals like brass, aluminium & plastic coated wire also pay very well. Batteries, ignition coils & electric motors are also good money. They also pay for electronics & printed circuit boards. At the moment they pay really well for scrap steel; they wouldn't even touch the stuff a year ago. I'm fairly sure that the prices are a reflection of the local share-market. I have easily made a very cool $200+ per month this way & get quite fit doing it as all the scrap needs to be stripped down to the bare metal. It certainly beats all the regular money I've ever made online!

Yes, the recycle is also available in my country. But usually some people will do it. At usual I collect the newspaper, plastic bottles, aluminum cans etc from our home. And after some time, I will ask the recycle person to my home and take away these stuff and I will be paid for it. Although the money is not so much, but at least I can do something good for our environment. I love China

hello elitess, In my country recycling industry is a business the city that i am currently living was declared as a RECYCLING CAPITAL OF THE PHILIPPINES because you can find a hundrends of recycling center here, my county are implementing the 3R's stand as Reuse, Reduce, Recycle the colector will pick up the garbage if it is already segregated in some places you can find a recycling box where you can throw the biodegradable and non biodegradable and some companies order they empoloyees to use a reuse papers and separate their garbage from recyclable one to non recyclable the idea of this really help Mother Earth. Buying a scrap/junk item is really a profitable one scrap item did not just come from residential area but also from business community, In our country we buy and sell recyclable items the price depends on the recyclable items and there are lot of different classifications of scrap item from plastic, papers and bottles. They say "There's a money in the junk" and i can say this is true have a great day!
