Why are the Oscars so boring and why I must watch the whole show

I just finished watching the Oscars last night and realized that it must've been the most boring piece of television that I've ever seen. If I wasn't on my phone 90% of the time, I would've either fallen asleep or changed the channel. The only thing that kept me from changing the channel was the desire to see who won best picture at the end of the night. Does anybody else think the Oscar is extremely boring but can't help but watch the entire show?

I kind of agree. I mean, there are some interesting moments, but most of it is indeed rather uninteresting. Still, I watch it every year.
