I have a 9-5 job and i bring lunch to work about 3-4 times a week. My parents cook dinner and they usually save me lunch for the next two days with leftovers. I've been doing this for almost 8 years and I've realized I saved about $10,000! Does anybody else do this? Kudos to you, I hope you continue this trend!

Yes I always take lunch to work. On mondays I buy a loaf of bread, some cold meats ,tomato, cheese etc, then all the girls chip in and we make sandwiches. We are lucky we have have a big kitchen with a sandwich toaster and a filter coffee machine and a microwave, so we are all set to go. It does save a lot of money and it works out well when we all put in money towards the food and coffee. Cheers Sue

Sandwiches for lunch is incredibly good because the fat content is low, you will get full, and most of all you will be saving money. The money I am saving is actually going to be put towards the ipad 2. So in reality, I am saving money to spend even more money. Oh well.

That's a good habit. I used to bring lunch to work 3-4 times a week as well, my mom prepared lunch for me at night or gave me the leftovers. I did save money on that but I ended up spent it on somewhere else...

Well that is the whole point, isn't it? To be able to save money where you can and be able to spend it on other endeavors to either earn you more money or objects you've been wanting to buy for a while. I use the savings from bringing my lunch by spending it on a more lavish dinner. Either way, it's being put towards something better.

I bring lunch whenever I can but I still have to eat out once in a while. I have been saving money that way. My job makes it hard for me to bring my lunch every day. I'm a flight attendant so sometimes I have no choice but to eat in the airport which is quite expensive even though we get a discount. It's also unhealthy. I'm usually gone anywhere from 2-6 days of the week on a trip and I can only bring so much food with me so when I get to my hotel I have to find places around there to eat or in the hotel which can be expensive too. It's hard to bring fresh food with me because it will only last a day or two at the most and if I'm gone for 4 or more days I have to eat out at least three of those days.
