No problem! Why study for years to get your bachelors or masters to only earn $50k a year and put up with those pesky unions and negotiating your pay when you can drop out of college become a governor or lawmaker vote for your own pay raises and benefits, possibly get an average of $125k a year with benefits like free housing and transportation, your own security detail and health care. Warning: there are rumors that it may cost your soul if you live in Wisconsin.

Good point Adoniah I forgot all about the retirement package of politicians. I can't think of any job where you can work for 2-4 years and have a retirement package. I would love to know exactly how much money could be saved if we did away with that one, well that is if it were possible to do away with.

Did some more digging and for congress the minimum is 5 years with an average time of 15.6 to 18.8 years varying before and after being elected in 1984. 5 years is still a lot better than teachers or military which is twenty.

I think the "elite" of any society are always an enemy to education and knowledge. If reason and knowledge prevailed they wouldn't be able to justify their actions.

What astounds me is how "they've" managed to get people to fight against their own interests! I guess the best lie is the biggest one that can to told .. such as, you don't need no stinkin' medicare ... then, keep your hands off my medicare ... then, medicare is NOT government sponsored ... and then, I can't wait 28 days for my government administered health care plan to effectuate! The latter was the best ever!

I actually agree with you on this one. I'm amazed at how people are willing to fight tooth and claw to be dependent on the government. I never thought I'd see the day where people would be using fear to convince people that the best thing they could do is get old and wait on government SS checks so they could scrape by on a Ponzi scheme that is paying back their (forced) investment with money from new (forced) investors.
Convincing people to be dependent on the government for their healthcare is almost as bad since people who buy into that are completely unprepared to take care of themselves when the government rejects a claim.

How many state and federal level elected officials do you figure don't have at least a Bachelor's degree?

The Metallion, good question. On the federal level: I came across this link which says we have had ten presidents without a degree. http://freedomarizona.wordpress.com/2009/09/13/10-presidents-10-ceos-without-college-degrees/
This link says 1 in 20 in congress do not have a degree (in 2009) http://thechoice.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/12/24/congress/
I can't find anything on the break down on state levels but it would be very interesting to find.
