How anxious are you about finances? Do you make sure to save more than to spend or are you the opposite? Why? Did your spending ways change as you grew older? I was always a saver and I always made sure to be smart about shopping.. I never knew what overdraft was until recently when my friends were complaining about it. So how are you managing your shopping?

My method of shopping is to list things which i really need. I draw cash from the bank and pay in cash. I am forgetful and I lose track of my spending if I do not actually count and pay. This keeps my bank balance healthy even at the end of the month.

I never have enough money to make it through the month much less to save. It would sure be nice if I could save becuase then maybe we could go for vacation somewhere. It sure would be nice. Never happens though and probably never will. But a gal can hope can't she?

I have no confirmation to say a particular answer to spend more or less money. But when i have money, i will spend that as soon as possible, it is true. If i have less money, i will be in my limits...

I have always lived beyond my means, and it has taught me a lesson. Now, I refrain from using that darned plastic, and really think hard when I need to. After I get out of this mess I've created, or maybe starting now, I'll try to save a little for the future. I'm converting to smart shopping as well.

I have done well in my life on making sure not to overspend but these days I have to be really extra cautious because funds are a lot less then a year ago, so I have tightened my belt a bit more and refraining from buying absolutely anything I do not need.

I have been on both side of this discussion and believe me, saving is the better of the two. Yes I would say when I was younger I did spend more because I had no responsibilities and I was having fun with my friends. Now I tend to be a saver and not spend money foolishly. I have come upon hard times after my marriage broke up but I am currently in the process of putting myself back together. Be smart and save for a rainy day.

I am definitely a saver. I rarely spend any money at all except for on groceries that we really need or on bills. Because I am not working I am on a very limited budget I cant afford to waste money on sexy clothing for myself and things like that because then I wont have any money when the time comes that something needs to be fixed like my van has a part that goes bad or something.

Hi Lore, I've always been on a very limited budget. I ran into credit problems while trying to raise my girls when they were all home still. I was pretty naive to the whole credit card thing but I learned and didn't go as far as to trash my credit out of the deal. I consolidated and it's all getting paid off. Once that is cleared up entirely then I probably will have a card for extreme emergencies and that is it. Even then, I didn't go crazy and buy a lot of material things with them. It was pretty much gas, food....things we needed. I probably would of just budgeted better had I realized. I haven't done the overdraft thing or bounced checks. I find that once I've managed to save up a little money...I start trying to collect it and I hate hate hate dipping into it so I don't unless it is an emergency.

I'm a saver rather than a spender too. These days it's due to necessity, but I find debt a very uncomfortable place to be.

I am trying to become a save-aholic. My husband and I have always been spenders. We spend more than we earn, and we don't end up saving enough to pay our bills. Our bank account has been negative many times. We're working on changing all that now.

i don't do shopping much except for food. i spend much for my hygiene and food every month. i make sure i have enough money to budget first. i go out sometime and will only bring specific amount and thats all am going to spend for that day. i'm like that ever since i'm young. thank goodness i don't have an interest that would make me spend much for me to support it.

I always try to shop and spend within my means. I also make sure I have close to my (X?) amount of dollars in my emergency / rainy day "piggy bank". I know that has come in handy many a days.
