Hello guys, I'm interested in doing transcription jobs cause I see a lot of this kind of job posted in freelancer and odesk. Are all transcription jobs cater to the medical field? Kindly describe this kind of work. Is it also a high paying job. I am a non-US resident will this work? Hope you could help.

There are a lot of transcription jobs aside from those that caters to the medical field. Offline transcription jobs pay higher than that of online, but if you're interested in online transcription that deals with interviews and instructional materials, just send me a private message.

I'm also not from U.S. and I've tried to search about this job opportunity but it seems that you have to enroll at transcription schools first before you would be able to have a home-based transcription job. a requirement is also to have a MT certificate or one must be a certified Medical Transcriptionist.
How about on interviews and instructional materials only? Do they need certification as well?

There is an overload of transcription jobs available that you can complete at home on the internet. However, DON'T bid for this type of work. It is much better for you to put a keyword [freelance transcriptionist] into your browser and search the results that you are given. I would go 3-4 pages deep as I read the various offerings. This seems to work best if you search using Bing.com.
Do you know a second language fluently? If so, you can look for results that transcribe a report or book from one language to another. Beyond medical transcription, you could consider legal, financial or general transcription. General transcription needs no further education, just the hardware to receive source material and return the finished product. I often do this for a retired CPA who still does business valuations and settles estates. He handwrites everything and faxes it to me. The pay for this type of work is not too shabby either.
You don't need to be from the US to do this work. If you want a course to get started, consider the distance learning experiences. Sometimes, you will also find clients and jobs by doing a course or two. Check it out.
