In what century you would have liked to live?

I will never know how the pyramids were built (or, if aliens wanted to get rid of them by throwing them on earth.) I will not give me the squires with fans or wind to take my train.I can not be bought from my father in exchange for three hundred camels offered by my Arab boyfriend, and I can not fly with Aladdin's carpet, I'll never have enough time to read, to learn fencing, the fine arts A to Z, cultivate plants, traveling, writing poetry and organizing balls.... and yet I wonder if I would have liked to live in another century.
For you who are moments in history or contemporary, that you wished you were born, you live, you realize? And why?

I'd like to live during the Roman Empire in Rome because in that period they built the most wonderful city in the world. Another age I like is the first '900 because of the numerous important discoveries of that period.
Anyway I don't think this moment of the history is (for me) so bad cause we have internet, we can share informations and communicate even if very far in the reality.

I would like to have lived in the time of the Civil War here in America. I love that part of our history. That time was rich in culture.

Exactly, I was talking about it. Indeed, the Civil War was one of the most important events in American history. The dispute between North and South in the mid-nineteenth century, the role played by major historical figures such as President A. Lincoln, Generals Grant and Lee, slavery .... a true history lesson.Thanks.

If I had the choice to choose my period it would still be the present time because it has never been in the history of mankind so easy to communicate with people from other cultures, and there are many exciting things we can do nowadays compared to the past, but it wouldn't be bad if one day we colud travel back in time.If such a thing were possible,my first choice would be the Renaissance Age because it was a great time for the development of human knowledge and art and people began to open their minds to new experiences,so it must have been an exciting time to live.

Renaissance Age is a wonderful time,I think there is man who has not heard of Leonardo da Vinci, Rubens, Rembrandt, Van Dyck and Emile Vernon. If I think of the brilliant era of the Italian Renaissance, in the field of sculpture and painting, many palaces decorated with famous paintings and sculptures, which have stimulated talents that have always existed in a nation where they have built more schools and then illustrious that enabled the rise of these arts on the highest peaks.
Unfortunately, in our century, interests of society have turned more towards the progress of technology.Thanks.

Hey didi :)
I love corsets and big beautiful princess dresses. I loved this century, when people eat a celebration of silver tableware, not today, when the celebration eating from plastic containers because they then do not wash. :D lol
And ball. Fold dances, large, luxurious rooms. Now we have a small room where all the smoke, drink and kiss :D
Yes I love this century :)

I wanted to live somewhere in the early eighteenth century and being the daughter of a nobleman of Florence.I would not breed in England,as long as I was one of the ladies of the court of King. I think I would have been customary at masked balls held on various occasions and in particular His Majesty's birthday. I have my carriage with white horses and toilets would be changed daily.I am fascinated by the medieval era, and the clothes of the period. In fact it is just a fantasy, right? Thanks.

I would really just like to live in the present century to be honest with you. I'm sure it might be an interesting experience to live in any point in history, but there is just too much of a culture shock for me. In fact, things do tend to change a lot from decade to decade, especially in recent time. The change from one century to another would be insane.
So yeah, its not really something that I have thought about too much. I really just decided that I like living in the present time. The present and perhaps in the future. I tend to learn from the lessons of the past to live the present and prepare for the future. It might be interesting for a day or two, but I think that I would miss the comforts of a modern world.

Personally, and I'm very happy and accomplished in the present era, I think it suits me. I love the city bustle, commotion, noise, night-lit city, modern stores, internet, modern technology ... I do not think I would like to live without them ...although I think I would have liked to live in England by 18 or 19 centuries.Thanks.

Hi,if I were given a chance to live my life in the time that I wish is I would like to be in the prehistoric age. I could live my fantasy of having dinosaur food for food. Just imagine all the dishes you could cook with just one of this animal. Also not to forget the freshly picked vegetables which is always available in the jungle.

I'm fine with the century we live in. But I'd like to be able to travel through time. Then I'd be able to see all the things you mention and more, and then just go back to what I'm familiar with.
As far as I know, women were treated like second hand citizens in most/all centuries of the past. And I like my rights. I want to be able to keep them. But time traveling would suit me perfectly. I'd visit a different century every week :).

You're right over the rights of women, even thought I did when I opened this discussion. Unfortunately, today there are people that undermine women's rights. But if we could travel in time, obviously simple "viewers", we have the means to enrich our culture.Thanks.

I would have like to live in the next century, and always the next century. That way, I might become immortal...haha...Nah..I am happy to live in this century and now. I am thankful for where I live, who I live with, and having Jesus as my personal Lord and Savior. I might daydream but I always think I am happy in the here and now.
You should listen to Ernie (as in Sesame Street's Bert and Ernie) sing "I don't want to live on the Moon". I can't copy and paste the link, so you have to search for it yourself. Think of how he like to visit the moon as your desire to live in another century. Maybe he might speak some truth to you. Cheers.

And I'd like to go back to school, but his mind now. I do not regret anything, the school years, but if I had the opportunity to take it from the beginning, I would focus only on significant matters, and I let it more easily with those who have not been helpful to me in life.Thanks.
