We've had the guinea pigs for just about a year now.

I got to thinking while posting another pet topic, and I decided to go through my emails checking out the previous owner of the guinea pigs. I never remembered when I got them, so when I checked, I found out I got them in February of last year. I can't believe we've had them for a year already, we've been though so much with them, it just seems like it's been longer. I don't even know how old they are, so I don't know how much longer they'll be with us. I can't wait for the summer when we can let them out in the backyard to enjoy the grass and the sun and shade. They've never had that chance since they came to live with us as we lived in an apartment when we got them. We got lucky with one of them, he got sick at one point, we had no idea what was wrong with him, but we treated him on our own, with suggestions from other people, and he got better and is as feisty as he was when we first picked him up. They've been a couple of noisy boys, and I was warned about that. But I laugh every time they squeak, and I laugh when they run and hide in their cages as well. They could never be put together, they had a huge pen where they came from, but we didn't have the room for that and we worried about the cat with them. But our cat and even the dogs are fine with them, and they're happy being in their own cages as long as they can still see each other. I'm hoping we have another few years with them, but I wont know since I don't know their ages.

It sounds like you have fun with those little fellers. I think it is great that your other animals like them too. I'd be afraid that they might wind up as dinner with a cat around! I hope that you do have many good years with them! Have a great day!

That's nothing, you should see the cat with the hamsters! He's fine with them unless they climb on him. We have a barn it seems around here.

You are so lucky to have them. I love guinea pigs cause they are soooo adorable, their size is just perfect not too small like a hamster not too big for a small house like dogs and they ate soo intelligent. I use too have guinea pigs. They are my bundle of joy. My guinea pugs were amazingly intelligent...when I brought them home, I let them roam free around my balcony...and they would automatically go back to their cage when they want to do their business. They also come to me when I call them!
