completing tasks

Hi, I went in today and tried to do a task. I got to the bottom of the page after doing the task and I was not able to enter information into the box to complete the task. Did I do something wrong or was there something else I need to do in order to be able to enter information into the box? In the past, I was able to complete tasks, but the box was white instead of gray. What is going on?
