Well, I keep this kind of a treasure box where my parents gave me. Inside where like you have to keep some money. They were always trying to tell me to save money for the future. Until now, I still have it. And it always remind me of saving money in case of emergencies.

..Hi there, I'm sure whenever you look at the box you remember many things about your childhood. The fact that it reminds you of saving is great, especially now with everything so tight. For the longest time I think I kept a savings account book that I had in elementary school with a few dollars in it which I'm sure now belongs to the state with any accumulated interest. I'm sure my Mom gave me the money to open the account as I had none of my own at that age. So our parents were trying to teach us important lessons about money. Thanks so much for your response. Fill up that box. Take care.

I only have one toy left and he is now 24 years old. It is the only doll i appreciated cause i am more into toys for boys. So, my sisters are all happy and celebrating every time my grandma send us Barbie Dolls . I am fond of collecting toy cars but none of it left cause every time we move around someone keep it. I'm so sad cause it was all collectors items.

......Hi simonelee, I know the feeling, if we had saved some of the things we had as children, we would have a few coins for sure. Some of the books that I had as a child would be serious collector's items. But I try not to mull over it too much just makes you a bit depressed. I purchased some Barbie dolls many years ago just for the purpose of an investment. Would be nice to see what they are worth now, but they make so many that it would be small potatoes. Keep that one toy, you never know. I always watch Antique Roadshow and then check out the flea markets hoping to find a treasure. Thanks for your response. Take care.

I don't think I have saved anything from my childhood just my teen years. On the other hand my mom saved me a wool blanket that she had since I was a baby. I now have it and the brand still exists 36 years later, but this type of design with colors I haven't seen in stores. She took good care of this blanket. because it has no holes, no stains or anything kind of damage.

.....Hi Iizzy2007, I don't have anything that I know of either sad to say. That is great that you have that blanket epecially in such good condition. That's a treasure for you. Something that gives you very pleasant thoughts. My aunt who married my uncle gave me a very nice item when I was much, much younger that she had hand made and I loved it. I don't know where it is now we moved so much. I only wish I had kept up with it. Thank you so much for your response. Take it easy.

i guess if there is something that i kept that would be my books.. i am a reader and i love books and through the years i was growing up, i often ask my mom to buy me books..from title to title..and that was like more than thrice a month and i accumulated a lot throughout the years! hahaha and till now those books are here with me and these books have been reminders of my past...things were written down on it and i love every single one of them. My husband would want me to give them away or sell it but i cannot because i am so attached to them..but i might give some away because we are moving into this new house but it is small and i don't think there is a place for those books. It is making me sad but maybe if i could find better homes for it then maybe it will all be ok.

...Hi there, I love books I collect them. I have books all over. When I was young my parents would want me to turn the light off and go to sleep, but I would get a flashlight and get under the covers so that I could still read my book. Books transport you all over. Love to read. Now I write short stories so I guess that's an offshoot. I don't think I kept any of my books from my chidhood, wish I had. Don't give all of your books away If you don't have enough space in your new place, if your bed is high enough you can store some of them underneath in a storage box like for blankets. Thanks for your response. Good luck with your new home. Take care.

When I was a child my parents moved very often and I have given away most of my toys to relatives, friends or charity, because I couldn't bring everything. I only have a few toy left, one of them is a teddybear that I got when I was a few months old. There are huge holes in it and it is almost falling apart, because it was my favourite toy and I carried it whereever I went. I simply loved that tedddybear I also have a doll that my mother has made. That is also very old, but it is important to me because my mother made it herself.

...Hi there Porcospino, Hope you are doing well. We did the same thing, up and down the East coast. Things were given away, left behind or lost along the way. That is special that you still have that teddybear. That's a love bear, from so long ago, great memories from when you were young. The doll is even more special, I don't have any dolls or toys but I do have things that either my Dad made like a piece of furniture, he was a carpenter and bricklayer. Also from my Mom who knitted things. Those things are precious. Thank you so much for sharing with us. Take good care.

It's only now that I realized I haven't kept any material thing from my childhood days. When I was younger, we used to transfer from one place to another and we have been victims of typhoons and storms during those days that all our belongings were literally washed out. I guess, the only thing that I have kept were the memories of my childhood, which still lingers on my mind even I am nearing my golden years, those happy and unforgettable memories that I have been telling my children and soon to tell to my grandchildren.

...Hi there junrapmian, You and I were doing the same thing when we were younger. We were moving up and down the East coast as my father and uncle were home builders and we moving to different places where the housing market was growing. It was an experience for sure. So my childhood things were misplaced, maybe given away. It's so nice that you can share stories with your grandchildren. That's great. You should write out a journal of memories from your days growing up to give your children, it would be a great gift for all. Thanks so much for your response. Take care.

I have some books with stories that I used to read when I was a child. We also used to have a poetry book that we borrowed to our friends and classmates and they wrote in it and sometimes they glued a picture there.
I started to write a diary when I was 14, so I can read my thoughts from that time - some are pretty childish..

...Hi there buenavida, It's like a trip back in time when you look at your book, it happens to me when look at very old things from long ago like pictures. I wish that I had thought to keep some of my books from my childhood. My Louisa Mae Alcott books, for instance, but you are not concerned when you are young, you are too busy trying to have as much fun as you can. The wisdom hopefully comes later. "o) Thanks so much for your response. Take good care.
