The year before at the company where I work always provides an annual bonus each year. But last year the company where I work do not give annual bonuses to employees. This year, the company provides annual bonus to employees. Management said that the annual bonus was not an employee right, but it is policy company to give or not. What about where you work, whether there is an annual bonus or not ? And if there is how the bonus distribution ?

In the end of the year, my company is always give the annual bonus. The bonus is sign of the appreciation of company for our performance a long of the year. Here, every employee have different amount of annual bonus because it's really depend on our performance. So it's more than just a bonus, it's such a motivation for each of employee to do best in working because all of our peformance will be evaluated later.

hi redvakaurvaki, I think you are lucky to work at your company now, because of all the responses here, in general said they would get a bonus if the company gets profit, while on your premises is not the case. If only the company I worked enforce the same, I would feel happy. Thank you for your response. GBU

Here in our company,we have our 13th month bonus, which is mandatory for all private companies here in the Philippines. It is being given half -half , half of it was just yesterday, and the other half on December before Christmas. Bonus is upon the discretion of the company and not mandatory. If the company feels good because of its profit they give bonus. Ours was only for a half month and is given every December too. However, last December we were given very small amount of bonus. It's because our company did not have enough income. Anyway, my boss gave me bonus to compensate for it.

Generally bonus is declared by the company as per its performance in the market. Depending on the profit the company it makes, the benefit of the profit is passed on to the employees in the form of bonus. So it is evident that it is not a right that employee will get his bonus if the company is running in loss! Like in many companies in India or company also distributes bonus once in a year and if we happen to perform well or exceptionally well like two years back we did, our employees get an additional bonus! Thus bonus is totally depending on the performance and it is the management which decides about its disbursement! Thanks!

Hi aisoice: Unfortunetly it's not a right but I really appreciate when companies care for their employees and give these stimulus gifts at the end of the year. People who work have financial troubles sometimes: they have kids, they have families so when a company is being 'human' and not only think about the money they can make they are doing fine and that's how things should work. My dad works on a company that usually gives an annual bonus to their employees and this makes that people love their jobs and work harder. ALVARO

Yes, I agree with your statement. Employees give the best for the company and companies provide the best for employees.

Shucks I lost my job last year as the company closed, the one big part I love about the job, as the bonuses were always big and it helped me during Christmas and to catch up on bills. So I did not get one, and do not expect one for a long time as I have resorted to doing independent contracting and I do not have a boss. Most companies here will only issue bonuses if they agree prior to hiring an employee or to surprise an employee(s). But it is not an obligation to do so for any business to do so.

In the company that I work for, we don't have an annual bonus except for the one mandated by law. However, we do have other benefits that are convertible to cash that can form part of our bonus. From what I heard from other companies though, they give out annual bonus but still, it depends on the company's economic standing for that year.
