Are you different from the society?

Generally, we love to follow others in the society. If many people involve in corruption, we take it for granted and we start involving in corrupt practices. If others love a particular item, gradually we also love it.These are just examples. Generally I find very few things interesting about what others feel interesting. Is it some kind of disease? Do you feel in the same way?

If people just go with the flow, doing what every body is doing, I think it's because they want to be acknowledged by the society. People need self esteem, although some need an artificial one, i.e. from people. This is fear-based attitude as people have tendency to shut an odd person out. I don't feel the same way. I can say this for sure. I've been feeling different from the society since I was a kid. I still do now. In my country, just like everywhere else, people tend to do the same thing: fashionable clothes, using recent socializing jargons, etc. I don't. I wear what I feel comfortable, it can be outdated or trendy, I hate speaking recent socializing jargons. But what makes me particularly feel different is my non-mainstream faith. I also totally enjoy frugal living while there are still very few people who know such thing. Most people prefer to go for spending spree. I shop reasonably and prefer to make something by myself. I'm also very health conscious, so picky about food and cleanliness. While people love to hang out and dine out and don't care about hygiene. They still love eating at street vendors while food poisoning cases because of that are increasing. But I enjoy my life. But I'm not being haughty here. I'm just a package of the odd one out. I just do what I feel comfortable without harming others.

You know what I think is the scary bit? Society is made up of thousands of individuals who ALL believe that they don't fit in. It's because we are all so busy posturing something we really are not. If you let your guard down and show your true, vulnerable self once in a while, you will be surprised how easy it can be to connect. The old saying about wild animals holds true here too: they are as scared of you as you are of them.
