My child is often difficult if I clean the ears using a cotton bud. I plan to buy, ears drops. My in-laws said, if drops ears, may only be used in acute circumstances. Is it true? for the mothers who have the experience to clean your child's ear, without using a cotton bud, please for your experience. because I am afraid, if rarely cleaned, added a lot of droppings, and even so the disease. thank you before.

It is my understanding that using cotton tips is only to be used in the surrounding area because using them pushes the ear wax further and deeper inside. So doctors do not recommend we put them inside the ear. I use to use a couple drops of room temperature peroxide into an ear and wait with head tilted upward for 1 -2 minutes then with a cloth I would clean the outer ear opening. Sometimes I would use the cotton tip but making sure I do not go inside. Frequently cleaning prevented the ear wax build up.

im also having hard time cleaning my son's ear. i have done everything, trying to clean when he's asleep, and when he's awake, and using both the adult's and baby's size of cotton buds. but none would worked. i was so worried that i brought him to his pedia, and he said that it's ok if im not able to clean my son's ear as long as i put a drop of baby oil, and make sure that there's not much dirt. will come back after 3 months and have another check up again. :)

Don't use Q-tips (cotton buds) to clean anyone's ears. According to every doctor I've heard discuss the subject, it not only could damage the audio hairs and even the ear drum itself, but it could push the wax deep into the canal where it could get impacted. The impacted wax problem happened to me. I had to go to a specialist and have it dug out. The drops are probably safer. Ask your doctor.

I have heard from someone that her doctor agree that people not to use cotton buds to clean their ears. Because using cotton buds is rather risky and can cause scratch inside ear hole. So, I try to use that suggestion. I never clean my ear with cotton buds again. And that is not a problem until now.

When I was alittle girl we didn't have ear 'buds' or anything else in that way. My grandmother was our doctor and she would just warm some oil and put it in the ear. It would sooth it and really do the trick. Now days that is highly frowned upon. Don't let it get too far out of hand. COuld be infected and need anti-biotics.

When you clean with a cotton bud, only use for cleaning the dirt in the outer ear canal. With notes, affordable and still soft stools. Be careful when using a cotton bud, do not be too deep, no more than 1 cm. It is feared will be pushed into the dirt. Dirt can accumulate in the ear, and interfere with hearing.

I can remember when I was a little girl my mother used to use some warm oil in our ears, I think it may have been just plain old olive oil, I could be wrong as she is no longer here to ask...

Hello indah. You really shouldn't use cotton buds to clean your child's ears. You may end up pushing any wax further into the ear or breaking the ear drum. The ear is really made to clean it's self You should never put any thing smaller than your finger into the ear. Just use the buds to clean the outer ear. http://www.ehow.com/video_4997971_clean-middle-ear.html

I use cotton swabs on my kids ears which I'm guessing it what you are calling a cotton bud. I wouldnt use ear drops on their ears. If you dont clean their ears out they will be very itchy. Just be really careful it can be very scary cleaning their ears if they arent the type to sit still and allow you to do it.

Hi, I clean my child' ear using a cotton bud. I just add bit of baby oil and clean the ear surrounding. But I did not dare to clean very inside part of his ear,I just clean the outside part of the ear. I never use the ear drops and not sure how is the effect.
