Ireland Beat England, Still how many of you say, mini teams is not needed in WC?

This match was a superb answer to those who, say mini teams are killing the thrill of World cup.
some say that mini teams are not playing comparitive cricket,matches are getting onesided, well have those people watch this match??
Ireland beat england, that too by chasing making a highest chase int he history of world cup.
Kevin O'Brien scored the fastest century in World cup, scored century in just 50 balls, that means hit the century with strike rate of 200.He also became the man of the match.
And the match also produced highest 6th wicket partnership in worldcup,162 [AR Cusack (47) KJ O'Brien (96)]
Ireland had nothing to lose, they just fought hard and won the match.
The batting powerplay was taken early, that was the turning point in this match, and using that power play, O'brien scored well.
Ireland keep their nerves cool, while england, was nervous and it reflected in their fielding and in the end England faced the defeat.
Congrats to Ireland.

O'Brain played a brilliant innings and took the victory from the England Side.
Surely mini teams should be included in the WC
The WC is the only chance they gets to play against Quality test playing Nations.
The Test playing naions didnt like to conduct tours with the small associate teams.'
So surely the should not be avoided.
ICC is planning to make WC with 10 teams,actually I am against it.
I agree that most of the matches will be one sided.
But I think 25% of these matches showes some courages and good performance from small teams.
And we have visualised some spectacular matches from Mini teams in the World cups.
This is the only platform they gets to competete with the good teams.
Even though the matches are one sided,we are watching it only in every 4 years,just watch it with patience or enjoy the oppositions game.
In this WC also Netherland ,Ireland ,Zimbawe.Zimbawe has not played upto the standard of a test playing nation.
The only team I thik is very poor in this WC is KENYA.
Canada had shown some good play in todays match vs Pakistan,so they are also doing well.
So mini teams is needed in WC.

Ya world cup, is the only platform the waek team get to expose their talent.
ya canda on todays match ahs shown some good response.
surely kenya has been very poor.
but we are getting at least one upset, if these teams are not included, how can ireland beat england.
and as you pointed, if onesided matches are happening, it only happening once in 4 years, so its acceptable.

Great win for Ireland .To be fair they had best chance of beating England and WI as both these teams doesn't have much spinners in their side, although England has superb spinner like Swann but other than him they doesn't have much in spin department.Yardy is more like a medium pace bowler like Collingwood rather than being an spinner.While WI only have the average Benn.Next World cup will be played with 10 teams and i am sure Ireland will make it as no 10.Decision of ICC playing just 10 teams and eliminating other mini teams from World cup seems to be fair as Canada, Zim and Kenya have failed to impress.Dutch did well against England but overall they are quite weak too.Ireland despite doing so well against England will not be able to beat India and SA as both these teams have lot of spinners and its known from league matches and practice games that Irish are not at all comfortable against spinners.If they can beat WI and Dutch then they have a very good chance of making it into final 8.England are in trouble though as they will be playing SA next and then Bangladesh on their home ground and if they bowl and field in the same poor manner then we may see yet another upset as BD have better bowling than Ireland.

I think kenya is the only worst team in this tournament.
all else have shown som glimpses of good team.
Zimbawe is a special case, I think first ICC should take away the test playing rights from zimbawe, they dont look like a test playing nation.
their test playing right should be taken away and should be given to some other teams like Ireland, they played well in last world cup also.

I think it was a great performance by Ireland. They deserved to win the match against England. Kevin O Brien played one of the best ODI innings I have seen in quite some time now. It also showed what I have been telling all along, that no score in the sub continent is safe.
Coming to mini teams, if the teams are as good as Ireland and to some extent Dutch have showed, then they can play in the world cup. But if they are as poor as Canada and Kenya, then I would rather not have them here.

ya In subcontinet no score is big to chase.
In bangalore Its crystal clear that just go and bat, every thing is possible, I will not be surprised if some team score 400 in this ground.
K O'Brien was amazing and extra ordinary.
and ICC pick the team by point ratings and by making qualifier tournament, from their they may pick four teams, but how can they predict, in this four the special two is going to perform.
Even Ireland found it miserable to win against bangladesh, but they won against england.
so i would say mini teams should be given chance at least in this kind of big tournament.

That is the reason why I feel that instead of 5 associate teams, only 2 associate teams should be in the world cup. Bangladesh is almost an associate team. So that will still mean 3 of the associates are playing. I think that is more than enough. That is why I am happy with the 10 teams for the next world cup rule.

surely Ireland is on of the top teams in associate ranking.
but we can expect some thing special from others too.
dont just discard the small teams.
Ok if its 10 teams only, then also the world cup will be interesting, but here also its going to be interesting.
I think kenya is the only poor team in this world cup, all others have something in them to be part of this world cup.

Hello venkit,
Yes, yesterday’s match between Ireland and England was a good treat for the cricket lovers.
Usually I ma not interested to watch when other countries play but yesterday my hubby and his niece-in-law were clapping and it made me to curious to watch the play and I watched only the end part . Both were happy with the winning of Ireland as the team considered as weak. Their efforts should be appreciated as they prove their talent on yesterday’s match
. Lets us hope for such a wonderful treat for our eyes again.

Hi venkit,
I completely disagree with you, every team is mini team when they does not get to play more matches or chance to prove their ability.if they get more to play team can be improved by experience and players capability.that we saw today from two batsmen from IRL.
Ireland also beat PAK. in last WC2007
In the game probably any one team has to win and others to lose.everything depends on situation,pressure and good form.
Hopefully we get to watch one more interesting match now next matches will be more interesting for this group.

Hai friend Thats what i meant too.
I was also supporting the small teams, I was also saying that, these teams should be given chance then only they can come up.
In another match in this WC Ireland lose to bangladesh, many commented on theat time,saying mini teams should not be included in WC, they are bringing one sided matches and so on.
but we can have thrilling encounters like this only if we have some onesided match.
mini teams should be given chance to paly.

ya mini teams become good cricket nations only by experience.
Srilanka was also a mini team before they winning the world cup, but their growth was in speed,
Bangladesh, as you referred, has improve in recent times.
but I think the standard of WI and specially Zimbawe has been gone down in recent times.
I think the test playing right of Zim should be taken away and should be given to Ireland.
We have to implement rotation in test palying rights based on ranking.

Thats right friend, we all want every mini team get more matches to play and become strong so we can get every match two sided with more interest.
Bangladesh also was so poor team before some years but after getting more match to play their team has become with some ability to prove so we can expect winning from them.
I hope we can see more teams in cricket than present with more power.

in that team is entered newly for playing cricket all the team is staring is well played so days goes on thay are didnot playing well they concentrate in money making so the ireland also like that only i think example take the indian team capatin dhoni he was well played from joined so the days goes on he slowly not playing well he is firt highest score is 183* but now u can tell ah dhoni is playing well

Actually i didnt fully get what you meant.
any i dont hink Ireland team is playing for money, they are playing in this tournament to keep their prestige, and thats why the whole people in the stadium supported IRELAND in towards the end of the match.
