If you're anything like me, you'll have all these places you want to visit but hardly if ever go when you're like living next to it. Why is that? This happens to me way too many times. Just as an example: I love nature and visiting the Oregon Gorge and waterfall was exciting and can't wait to go see, then I moved to Oregon to be closer to these beautiful scenery. guess what?? I visited the gorge and waterfall maybe 3 times in the 5 years I lived there...

Six years ago I moved to the South West and have I been to all the places I said I would in this area, well no. My disabled son is now three years old and is a wheelchair user. I have a baby daughter now too. I have only walked the gorge once my son was on my friend's back on a baby carrier. Though I have been to Glastonbury and Clevedon many times. I have a train pass and would like to travel to Exeter and other lovely places in Devon. I always am in such a hurry to go overseas exploring and I don't see nearly as much in my home country.

Humans want new and exciting things in their lives. Once something has been experienced once or twice, it's natural to want to move on to something else. If you want to keep something really special in your life, only interact with it only on very rare, very special occasions. It's a similar situation as living next to the beach. There are loads of people who visit the beach every year, but would be super tired of the salt and sand if they lived there all the time. The only way to keep going to the beach special is to only visit on special, infrequent occasions.

I live in Austin, Texas and while I've been to most of the area sights, it has been years since I've done it.
There are times when I really want to go someplace, but the idea of going alone just isn't appealing, the roomie doesn't do "outside" well and most of my other friends are also disabled or too busy. So, I don't go.
