I have noticed that most of the youngsters now are apathetic about modern day politics. Is it due to the rotten state of affairs prevailing in modern day politics which can no longer inspire anyone to politics or due to the extreme selfish attitude on their part to build their own career?

Youngsters become apathetic to politics these days not because they dont't care, but because they got tired of the rottenness of the system.
Youths as a rule have that kind of messianic political zeal that wants to change the world. However, they become disillusioned as they get older as they see new forms of rottenness and corruption arise over the ashes of the old ones. Unless a really oppressive government arises, you cannot expect youths to rise up and fight.
Thus, they become more absorbed on building their lives and careers instead, especially when they are starting to have their own family. After all, we cannot rely solely on politicians to run our lives. Sure, there were exceptions, but those are quite rare and isolated.

It is not just today's kids but I think every generation since 1972! Back in 72 here in the States the last nail in the coffin of the marriage between the public and the politicians. The first strike was the killing of Kennedy, in fact both of them. The public was never told the whole story and they Knew it. That was the first step away. Then the war in Vietnam, The young people who they assumed would just obey, Didn't.And then Watergate! That showed that politics is a dirty business. and since then, it is so easy to not care about politics. There is a huge disconnect. The politicians do nothing but talk. The young don't listen.

I think the kids today see the lack of luster in their parent's and so that is what they know. Back in the 60's kids were ready to fight of their rights and they were tough and ready. Now its a joke, they aren't stupid and they know they can't do much. When the times comes they will be ready I believe. They are like moles and need some leadership.

I honestly think that the reason that young people aren't really all that interested in politics is because of the fact that they are smarter than we were when we were younger. What I mean is that we would fall for the stuff that politicians would say to us. I think that the young people today realize that politicians are not telling the truth and therefore there is really no point in paying attention to the politicians.

Yes I agree with I have also noticed most of the youngesters misuse modern day politics. Now I am seeing most of the people annoyed the name of politician and politics because their attitudes are selfish. No helpful thinking only earning money and the effects of this event on common public

The way I see it is that the young people are fed up with that state of the economy and look at the politicians as a bunch of moronic clowns. Lets face it, the last 20 years things only have gotten worse, especially here in the United States. I don't blame the kids for being upset or annoyed with politics. I myself have given up on believing them and anything they say. Hopefully some of the younger people will learn everything they can and stay in school and get educated, then maybe when they are of age they can be the ones that become the new politicians and change things.
