We have a member in the family with Dyslexia and it was very difficult to deal with in the beginning. But with time all members in the family learned to help the child with the assistance of a psychologist who taught us all how to help the child.
We found it a bit challenging because of not having had prior experience with it but we all learned how to patiently help the little guy with his homework and how to help him accept it also. He also received special education classes at school because he could not keep up the pace with the other kids so with time he was able to learn new homework exercises that helped him to learn at a slower pace.

Unfortunately at my place there is no special classes for dyslexia kids. She has to go to normal class and having very difficult time to follow the studies and homeworks. She has problem remember words even she can confuse with letter b and d, p and q...Don't know what is the good method to teach her so that she can recognize the letter without fail.

My daughter just stared I believe a program by Wilson and she's doing awsome with it. She was doing another program the first half or so of the year and it was too easy for her. Though my daughter is only in second grade.
Does your child have IEP? Have they done any testing? Does your child get any accomodations during the school day?

I had this problem with math, and many of my friend have this problems.
Audio tapes while reading the book. Have a white board or a chalk board and write words on it and say them out loud to your child.
My friend has this condition and she graduated from college recently with her BA in Philosophy. She also has Lupus, so if she can do it, anyone can.
She told me that she would just ask a lot of questions. If she didn't know what a word was, she would ask someone to tell her what the word was. She would also use audio tapes, audio CDs, with the books, and she would watch movie with subtitles on them.
She learned how to do it. When she would read, she would not stop reading until she read the entire chapter.
I have a problem calculating and processing a lot of numbers, especially when they are close together. I was lucky that I got through Algebra, Algebra II and Statistics.

I am also thinking of using the method of audio visual in order for them to keep concentration and remember the words. Thanks.

first would be acceptance, many parents lives in denial hoping they can force their kids overcome their learning disorder by "disciplining" them. Parents should invest some money and give the child some psychological help so it wont be a hard process.I have ADHD, Aspergers and Discalcula (its the Math version of dyslexia) checking up with professional wont do harm, I would have been able to get through my dyscalcula if my parents accepted me condition instead of living in denial.
