Fire!!!!!!where is the fire exit?

Yesterday the staff from the city hall inspected our building as part of the requirements for operating business in the city. They check the sanitation, electrical wiring, building planning and the fire safety of the building. When they are gone I just come to think of what the fire safety in charge told us, to remove all the heavy things that blocked the fire exit. Yes, he's right. Because this is what most of the scenario of most establishments, markets and buildings. When there is no fire, the fire exit will be left unnoticed, blocked with documents and other heavy materials. I also realized when there is fire most people think about searching for the fire exit, without knowing what lies ahead of that fire exit. So, let us put this in our mind that fire exits are not the safest ways to escape from the fire area it's should be only the last option where there is no other way to get out from that inferno. I am right? How about you, have you been trapped in an on fire building or area? What suggestion would you like to share when there is fire?

Thankfully I have never had that experience. Which is a good thing for sure, for the reasons that you just in fact stated. That is the fire exit is more times often then not out of the way or blocked by some thing. That really does show a distinct lack of understanding of the fire code and understanding that emergencies can happen at any time. Then again, common sense is a thing that is sadly lacking more and more these days. There are many people who really are not thinking straight and are leading to putting others in danger. There might not be no fire, but there is always a chance that one can start. All it takes is one spark from a careless person and everyone will be doomed if the fire exit is not easily accessible.

You're right, there are people that doesn't think what will happen in the future. They are not thinking how dangerous that it could be. Therefore we should always keep our fire exits accessible 24/7.

well my advice is for homes only. put all your important papers for example birth certificates, insurances and such in a fireproof safe or a bag where you can carry fast. have a bag near your main door with things that you might need if your going to rush outside your house. Like clothes, water and money. ( good advice also for people on the run lol) have a small fire extinguisher in your home. A very small one will do. It might not save your house but can be a way to stop flame/heat away from you while your rushing out of your house. and lastly DON'T BE A HERO. If the proper people are in your location already no need for someone who does not have the equipments and training to stop a fire. Your just a liability for the fireman. I have seen this in my/our country, people helping people to fight the fighter with pails and blocking the way of the fire trucks

When I was working we had a mock fire to show us what to do when there was a fire, I didn't agree with it all as they were telling us that one half of the room goes down the back stairs and the other half down the front stairs with no mention that maybe they should find out exactly where the fire is first, no good going down the back stairs if that is where the fire is... it is ok to make certain plans when there is no fire but they should cover all scenerios...

Mock or seminar training is not that realistic when there is real fire. Even if you have been attending trainings for fire safety but never ever experience one real fire incident it has really something different. Good if you have a strong ability to keep your mind at ease when this calamity arises.

Yes that's what I'm thinking. Fire exits are not that easy to pass. Small, dark and many things to get done.God if you are strong enough to cut those things that is being tied or blocked in it or you will die not because of the fire but because of the hassle from the fire exits.

I lived someplace with no fire exit. We moved. but a few years later there was a fire there. They had to jump from roof but thank goodness the roof was low. Everyone was ok. Is your roof low?

Where are in the third floor and it's not advisable to jump out from the window of the building.
