So far my dog has been wearing the collar for a couple of hours, but he's finding it quite difficult to do things he normally does.
For one, he has a hard time navigating the stairs with the cone on, I had to take it off for him to come up.
I wonder if there's any way to get him used to it so he can go up and down the stairs with it on? There are only 3 steps, but he keeps his head down when he comes up the stairs, and I can't figure out how to keep it up.
He can't figure out easily how to eat with it on too.
Before I go crazy and have him go nuts trying to do things, I could really use some advice. I've never had to use a collar on an animal and I really don't know how to make it easier on him.

One of my dogs had to wear one for a few weeks. It was my first experience with an e-collar. I think sometimes the owner has more difficulty in dealing with it than the dog does. I don't know of anything special you can do to make it easier on your dog. It's just something you have to let them adjust to in their own time. My dog had the same trouble getting up the steps outside and she only had three to ascend. She also had trouble getting up on my bed at first. She would also have to wear it in her kennel when I was out on errands. She would constantly bump into stuff and get it hooked on things around the house but she got accustomed to it and it was no problem. She learned how to keep her head up so she good get up on the bed and make it up the stairs. And she had no problem eating or drinking water. Just give it a few days and things should get easier for the dog.

For me, I could only say for your dog is to let it wear the collar even if he finds it difficult. But during meal time, I think it's good if you take it temporarily so that your dog can eat comfortably. Then after so, let him wear it until he get used to it. And if you're worried because of uneasiness, you can observe him for a week or more if there's a progress. And if no development, then that's all up to you for the betterment of your dog.

my dog had to wear one for a few months as she ripped all the muscles off her leg getting stuck in a culvert and had to have drainage tubes put in her leg. it drove her insane and took her forever to figure out how to do things with the collar on it took her less time to figure out how to break it we were going through a 2 a week with her. what does he have to wear the collar for? some times there are other options then the collar. the other thing is you can usually take the collar off when you are around to supervise the dog. to makes things easier on him such as going up the stairs as well as eating and drinking
