My question is... If your hosting account is expired and your domain name was registered through them, will you still be the owner of the domain name?
And if you do still own it, can you transfer the domain name even when the web hosting is already expired and the domain hasnt been over 60 days old. someone please help.

First off you never truly "own" a domain name, you only rent it. So if your account expires then no you don't have the domain name anymore.

Well I would assume that if your account is expired the company will revoke the rights to the domain from you. The company has complete access to it and they give you minimum access, if you arent active on your account they think it is a waste when someone else could rent the domain name from them, so probably not.

Of course you could try re-registering it too, that would probably be the best.

I would contact the hosting site as soon as you can as I am sure you have a grace period and if you allow the grace period to run out it may be too late. But I am sure there is a grace period where you can re-register it and as far as transferring it I would ask them too because now it is expired so they would have to answer as per their terms.
Best of luck.
