Women's Day

India
March 4, 2011 9:45am CST
In my Country we worship Goddess Luxmi, Saraswati and Parvati. We worship Durga and several other Goddesses who destroyed demons. They were all women. What is the position now? Women are being subjected to cruelties so much that News Papers readers wonder where the World is going. The first International Women's Day was observed on 8 March 1911. Thereafter the World simply forgot this Day till Sonoma in California celebrated the Day on 8 March 1978. Some progress took place and the month of March in 1987 was declared 'Women's History Month'. However, is it not true that we simply celebrate the Day as if to complete the formality and we would again do so on 8 March 2011? There are rising cases of atrocities being committed in every Country of the World. How would you honour the women in your life or around you in your society? Should we not give and continue to give the respect which they truely deserve?

Hi zhouxi, This is a nice gesture anyway that women on 8th March are given half holiday so that they have time to prepare some recipe to sooth the men. lol At least that is better but in our country even that is not shown or I am not aware if they are doling so.

Very true... Womens are the 1 who get angry, scold you for your faults.. but once they are in your life... They never leave you what so ever your life may turn to... But we like idiots forget to value them... Let them know their Worth.....

Hatley, thanks for your response. Yes, it is quite a good gesture towards women who bring happiness in the family simply by flashing smile. We are are grateful to them.

Hi udaymohan, Yes, the eighth day of the month March is celebrated as world women day. I feel this is just to reminding the women that we are still there caring and respecting them. What you have put up that this is a once in a year worshiping the women folk as we do to the great souls who have departed. Just the following day of the Women Day there would be a news that on that day some one was decamped or abused or killed. Our respect for women is nothing but to show that we have respect for them and would be there. This is what I say is mere hypocrisy.

Krajibg, you have rightly said that such gesture on one particular day is simply hypocrisy. If we really respect them, crime, decrimination on them would have been minimum. Thanks.

In my country,on March 8,today,all the women are very happy. On that day, almost all the women are congratulated by everyone, respected by everyone. To celebrate women's day, many companies, institutions, schools give awards to female staff, they are very happy on women's day!

Good to know, Accelerator004, that Chinese people have so much respect for their women folk. I wish my Country would also show same respect to them which they really deserve.
