Sometimes I Feel Like My Family Has Been Cursed.

I sometimes feel like someone got mad at one of my ancestors long a go and cursed my family saying that the rest of them will die a horrible death with cancer.I know this sounds crazy and I just think it sometimes when the things are happening. My grandma which is my mom's mom died of cancer and so did her mom and siblings. My mom had 5 siblings. Now she only has one. The rest died of cancer. All of her siblings that died had cancer before and later on got the same kind or a different kind and died. The only ones left are my mom and her brother now. They both have had cancer before. It just gets scary and sad as people in the family are dying of cancer. You would think that some other thing they would die of.It's just strange. Hopefully my mom and her brother break the cycle. I hope they don't have to suffer in pain with it.It make me almost know how I will die. I feel that there is a 90% chance I will die of cancer unless the cycle breaks with my generation. What do you think of this .This is strange, scary and sad to deal with this as family members are dying.

It seems apparent that you are genetically prone to the disease, but if you live a healthy lifestyle, you can possibly ward it off. I'm sorry that your family has all had to go through with this. Do you get checked regularly to make sure you don't have it? One thing I have been telling people since I got cancer the first time: "You know your body. If something doesn't seem right go ahead and get it checked. If the doctor says there's nothing wrong, get a second opinion! Don't take no for an answer. If something is wrong and you know it,keep pushing until they find out what the problem is! Your life could depend on it!" You can't change what has happened in the past, but you can do things to improve your life and health!

You should go to the county health department. If you have fairly low income, you should be able to get low cost (or no cost?) treatment through their facility. I did that here before I went to China. I did have to pay a little bit each time I went in, but I was able to get in to take care of basic medical needs. I have done that in many states when I didn't have insurance and didn't qualify for medicaid.

The doctor asked my father when he told my father that he has cancer of the prostate 7 years ago, if cancer runs in the family. But there was none. So they say that if your mother or father has cancer, you have big percentage of having one too in your later years. The doctors can say that because it is a scientific finding that it is so. In this regard, as early as now, avoid foods that are said to be cancer causing. "an ounce of prevention is better than cure" .

Hi Oh thats really scary - the way you put it. I hope the jinx is broken. Don't despair - God will certainly steer you through. But its better to take precautions. I think consumption of certain nutrients helps in warding off diseases like cancer. Amongst them are vitamins like Vitamin D, besides other antioxidants like alpha lipoic acids, and even spices like turmeric, etc. Consult a specialist in nutritional medicine. He should be able to help you surely.

Cancer can be hereditary but sometimes it has something to do with our lifestyle - the food we eat... The best thing to do is to anticipate the worst and try to find ways to curb it. Like have a regular general checkup to see if somethings wrong. And by then, you should be fine. :)

Wow yes sometimes family history can repeat itself but think positive because no need to over worry if no symptoms are there. I do hope all have been taking the necessary precautions by undergoing pre-screenings. If to date there has not been any reason to worry, outside of the history; I would say take it easy, have hope and do not over worry.
