Google's latest change in it's algorithm to filter out so called 'content farms' has taken the news media by storm.Content farms are those websites or blogs that generate poor quality content by writing the same sentence over and over and copying word to word from other websites just to improve their site ranking, which google wants to put a stop to as it is not satisfying googlers who surf for relevant information. Now lets look at the obvious pros and cons of this new change. PROS-The upside to this new algorithm is that google will be able to filter those annoying spam sites that provide no relevant info whatsoever and only exist to goble up search engine space that is meant for better quality sites or blogs. This means that there will be more cleaner and efficient search results with more useful info.So for all you underrated bloggers and website owners, your day has arrived because only websites with quality content can get top priority. CONS-Now the downside to this solution is fate of many innocent legitimate websites and blogs who get kicked back in the bottom of the search results and get labeled as 'content farms' just because they have words and content that is similar to other websites.Small-time blogs are not the only ones affected as large well funded websites like Demand Media and Maholo.com have also seen a drop in traffic and revenue because of this ,Maholo also laid of 10% of its workforce. SOLUTION-As google is a dominant player in the search engine market,it is understandable that many bloggers, site owners and even freelancers will be hit by this new rule but all those legitimate websites i request you to calm down and use alternate methods to advertise your works like banner ads, affilate marketing etc and this is a wake up call to those you produce content just for a good ranking So tell me my fellow mylotters, what is your opinion on this?

But what if you are writing your own content but the topic or niche that you are blogging about is too popular or too common, to the point that even if you have written your own original content, because of the niche's popularity, your content still accidently and unintentionally look similar to other bloggers' original content?

Well that is huge quandary faced by many new and aspiring bloggers. There is no straightforward solution to that but in case of a popular or common topic, it is recommended that you try to use different keywords and make the topic look unique in some way or the other to stand out from other bloggers. Also try using copyscape, an online program that uses an algorithm to check for imitators and plagiarists for an article. Besides the new algorithm is used to filter out low quality and repetitive content rather than content similar to other blogs or websites

I think this change is mostly good. At least based on the changes I have seen in the SERPs so far, so I Am all for it!
