the Love of MONEY is the ROOT of all EVIL.

It is not bad to be rich. If you are born rich it is not your fault. And there is nothing wrong with having money. We use money to get us what we need. And we use money to everyday in our life. The bible clears it out in 1 Timothy 6:10 "For the love of money is the root of all evil." It does not say that money is EVIL. it says the LOVE of MONEY. Being obsessed with money is evil. Money per se is not bad, but to be in love with it will lead one to making evil. This serves as a reminder to us all, that we ought to Love God not money. And a reminder that money is not everything in this world. Don't you think fellow mylotters?

I think that you are definitely right on this one. I don't love money, but I know that our family has to have money in order to survive. I am not one of those people that is greedy with my money. When we have a little bit of extra money I am willing to share it with people that are less fortunate than we are. The reason that I am this way is twofold. First of all, I think that it is our duty as people to help others that are in need. Additionally, I also think that people will remember that we helped them if we ever face a time in our lives where we should happen to need help.

Yes, it is a real responsibility to help the needy and those facing hardships. As creation of God we are sons and daughters of Him. We are to help them, and make them live this life appreciating the goodness of God. The key is "the giver should forget that they've helped, the recipient should always remember that someone helped them" in such a way, giver will not expect something in return, the recipient will always remember to payback or pay it forward. :)

Yeah people tend to get this confused quite often. It is not money that makes people evil. I mean it is the nature of the beast. You need money to live a comfortable life. That is really just the nature of everything. The nature of money is that it is a tool that needs to allow us to live. Enough to live and perhaps some extra to save up for an emergency, that is the perfection combination. The problem is when people tend to get a little too hung up in their love for money. When they get obsessed with obtaining more money then they could ever need. Money has turned some well adjusted people into some pretty obsessed individuals. The fact of the matter is this. Money does in fact make the world go around but you got to know when to say when. So its not the money but rather the obsessive nature that causes us to go for too much.

LOVE here could be equated to obsession or greed for money that causes people to compromise values and general welfare just for them to obtain wealth. Hence, it's the root of evil.

Love is money is not root of evil. Money makes mare go. Money rectifies every problem. Every one is running after money and this is causing to keep the people of this world busy and busy. Poverty is not good. We can say that poverty is root of all evil. Theft, corruption, and foul means are born by poverty. Poverty seems like a crime and punishment. No one should live in poor and miserable condition. God gifts us 24 hours a day and these 24 hours are like golden coins. we should save them. we should utilize them to learn and earn. we conclude that no one is poor if he use 24 hours to earn the money in right means. This will make him rich and richness covers all of the evils and sins.

You have a point about people in poverty. But I am trying to convey here a WARNING for everyone not to be OBSESSED with money or be GREEDY about obtaining wealth because it may lead them to do evil things. :)

If you place money higher than God and your family in your life, then it can really become a root of all evil. It will tend to control you no matter what. As money can change and control everything in this world, you'll be susceptible to such things as luxury, overspending, pride because you think you are richer and more powerful etc.

Yeah at some aspect in life Money could give you power to turn things the way you want. But by doing so, you unknowingly compromise morals and general welfare. Hence, the obsession for money causes evil. :)

The love of money may be the root of all evil, but it is also the key to earning a Ferrari. Money is not everything in this world, but it gives you a better position in the world. Like the famous saying, "They said that money can't buy happiness, but I would rather cry in a Ferrari.

Well yeah, you got a point. But the thing is, some people because they want to have something so badly (involving money) they forgot about morals and values in life. When in fact it's not everything there is in life. :)

That is why we are given 18 years of life to learn about the moral values about it before we actually turn into a full grown adult. As for me, I do believe that the malevolent intentions for or with money, only comes when a person is not fully educated with love from his/her family or society.

True, we have to be more aware that we should value or love our family, society or humanity and God above all else, specially above money. :) Great point! God bless you! have a happy life AutumnEclipse.

You know what's the sad thing. Poor people often spend more time thinking about money than rich people do. If you have enough (and that does not necessarily mean being rich) you are liberated to express yourself in other ways, but when you don't have enough to pay the bills, to feed yourself, to do what you really want to do, money becomes like an all consuming virus in your mind. Saddest of all is that some people have plenty, but still think they are poor.... I think that is really where the 'love of money being the root of all evil' comes in. When money becomes like a hunger or an addiction.

Poor or the needy spends a lot of time pondering about money, but the wise ones spends enough time to figure out a strategy to get enough and live normally, because they know, life is not just all about money. :)There are poor people in the past who became billionaires. Sad thing really is when money become one's obsession. Yeah an addiction that consumes, that destroys. It's where evil is found. Thanks for sharing your idea choco.! God bless you! have a happy life...

Money? What is that? L.O.L. I really think the more money some people not all but does make them become different in some ways. I have been struggling for a long time but I have learned just to make it by week to week and day to day with what I have it is hard but I get by. Maybe money is the root of evil to some people? I can not really say, because I really don't know. Sure money is not everything and I have learned that for a very long time. You are right we should love God for what he or she gave us and be thankful for the money that we do have even if it is only a little hope this kind of answers your questions. Have a good day.

LOL... Yeah, some pleasures of life are not necessarily caused by money. Yet, a lot of people are struggling to get so much of money, that when they got it at all cost, shunning and notwithstanding morals and values of life, destroying oneself, they finally realized, it's not all there is in life. And they missed the precious moments in the past because they were so occupied with the thought of MONEY. There's nothing really wrong or bad about money, we just have to be cautious not to be obsessed about it. Thanks for sharing jaher. God bless you! have a happy life!

Love for money is not bad at all and I think nobody hates money. What is bad is excessive greed for money which is at the root of all evils.

Right! The excessive greed for money generates evil.

I agree. YOu have a point there. Money is just a tool for commercial purposes. It's a legal tender that has the buying capacity. It's the greediness among us that is evil and not the money itself. When people have much money they tend to change their attitude. My Uncle once told me that money is power, without it you're nothing. I didn't agree with him but as i grew older and phase some challenges in the real world, somehow there's an inkling of truth in it. But power in the society is not the only power that i need. If i have God in my life, i don't need the power that money can give only in this world.
• Philippines

Hey friend, You are here. Yes, it's a legal tender. And I just want to quote the one wrote that I like "But power in the society is not the only power that I need. If I have God in my life, I don't need power that money can give only in this world." It expresses the idea that God's power is sufficient and transcendent. Sufficient for us to live in a society that is so consumed with the desire for "earthly power" and transcendent because God's power is way beyond the idea of men, one couldn't fathom, and it includes but transcends the realms of earth. Thanks for the idea toni my friend. God bless you! have a happy life! :)

It's true that money isn't everything in life and people obsessed with money forget that they don't take it with them after the end of Earthly life, but unfortunately it's also true that if you don't have ,money to live a decent life no one will even look at you in this life,so money for me represents a necessary evil, but I don't want to get rich at any cost,I just need enough money to enjoy life.
• Philippines

Yeah, there are things that money would enable us to experience the pleasures of life. And I like the idea of what you said "I don't want to get rich at any cost, I just need enough money to enjoy life." That's both a statement of what you want and a warning to yourself. Thanks for sharing polaris77. God bless you! Have a happy life! :)
