Poor deer, I hope it wasn't hurt.

Last night, I was driving home through the rain, and I had to switch lanes quite suddenly.
I thought the car in front of me had broken down, not a good place to do so since it was still pretty busy.
However, when I drove past, I saw why they had stopped and I wanted to stop myself, but I couldn't.
There was a baby deer sitting in the road in front of the car. I don't know if it was hurt, I couldn't see enough, but it didn't look like it was.
It was sitting there, its front legs curled up like it was resting. I'm hoping that it was only doing just that.
Our area has deer crossing warnings, but not where he was. There is a golf course on one side of the road, and houses on the other.
I really wanted to stop and make sure it was alright, but with someone else already there, and groceries in the car, I just couldn't.
I doubt that the deer being in the road would be newsworthy, unless it had gotten hurt, and I'm hoping that someone managed to get it off the road to safety.
I guess I'll never know about this.

In Canada and especially in my neck of the woods, sadly deer get hit by cars all the time. it is a common occurance. In fact I was driving with my MIL one time, when we hit a deer. So sad. A few years ago, I was in an accident with a moose...wrote my car off, but the moose kept on walking down over the hill.
It's hard to say whether the deer was ok or not.....I hope so.

I thought I already answered this but then I looked and there were no responses.
I wonder why the baby deer would pick the middle of the road to sit and rest. Is that area usually not busy? It sounds like it probably wasn't hurt, but it could easily get hurt if it stayed there for too long. As far as being newsworthy, it might be a human interest type story if someone took a picture of the deer laying in front of the car and put a caption under it saying something like "would you be comfortable here?" Thanks for sharing!

I hope it was Ok too. I wonder if it might not have been slightly hurt, or scared stiff (literally) since in my opinion, an animal that could, would have gotten out of the middle of the road real fast, But if it was sitting up, and not lying splayed like it'd been hit, then that was probably a good enough sign.

For me they are hurt because they are not like the happy dear.

Here in Australia I don't think we see deer to often, but I've always had a liking towards animals, more towards those of the cuddly kind, if you know what I mean. Judging by the fact that there was already someone there, it's most likely that person helped the deer. I do hope that deer was alright.
