I don't know if you will believe me or not. But I have proven this theory based in m on experience. When I was still in High School.I prefer pointed pens when jotting notes. I feel like I am confident that I am jotting good and all I jotted down inserted automatically to my brain.
When examination comes my preparation was simple.I buy a sign pen for my examination day. I listened to music. Read and scan my notes. And Sleep. That's it.
When examination comes. I got good grades on my exams. I tell you I was able to get an honor to this kind of routine. I don't memorize that much. Its like my hands is being by my pen.

Just out of curiosity, what is a "sign pen"? I always use ball point pens. I have never had success when taking notes of any kind. I would miss two thirds of everything when I was trying to write down what I did. And I usually wound up writing down things that were not important. I know that all people learn differently. I'm glad you found a method that worked well for you. It is really best to not just memorize because you generally don't remember after a test. Thanks for sharing!

it could be a lucky charm for you. but i am more convinced that anyone could earn higher grades if only they will study well and better. or it maybe within ourselves, that even if we do not study our lessons and reviews before the examinations, we still get better than the others.

You may call your sign pen as your luck pen. The same as when I am having a quiz when I was in high school, there is this brand of paper that is of high quality which I always use when I started to see a pattern that I always get high grades when I use that.

hi syoti I believe that if you believe it helps you ace your tests it will work for you. When I was in college I believed I had photo graphic memory which I did have. I studied a week ahead then relaxed the night before exam just glancing at my notes. then when I took the tests the answers flashed into my mind from my notes, and it always worked even if I had to reword the answer into obetter prose I knew the correct answers. I took very good notes concise and to the point. I had an A average all the way through.

me too ;) i'd get more inspired to study if i use gel or sign pen. i guess, if i use something else, i wouldn't feel like writing notes & all. Whenever i use sign pen, i am confident my notes are written down clearly & neatly. It really helps :)

Hi syoti!
I guess it's your confidence in writing using that pen that enables what you write to be registered easily in your memory. Writing is an effective way if becoming familiar with the topic so the more we write then the more familiar we become. It's one of the methods of learning I believe.
This also happened to me during college but the difference is that I would take any kind of pen just to jot down. I just recall it then during exams and doesn't have to memorize anything because I'm already familiar with it. Many students nowadays are getting lazy in taking down notes and those are usually who perform poorly in class.

It is good to know that. I think that it might be the reason that you could write more smoothly with a sign pen, some kind of writing habit. Also it brings more inspiration using it. I also have my favorite writing pens. They are mainly thick-ball carbon pens. I feel good with them, but not those thin ones. Good luck, friend.

Hiya syoti,
Mean a good Pen like a Parker Fountain Pen? Or a Biro with a good steady point nice and easy to write with flows good with the Hand and leaves a good looking style?
I love Pens or Biros that you can write with that let you write nice and easy Bic used to have some really good one. But I found Parker to be the best of all and they lasted the longest although more expensive.
It never helped me with Exams as I had to leave School earlier than expected. But the Exams I did take were pretty much okay but we did not have good Pens for those they always blotched all over the pages or would not write.
A good Pen is a must I think because you want to get all your answers down all in order and make no mistakes or get any blotches from those awful pens that are still around. I have an Office full of those horrid ones I never use them at all. Also you want to be able to write fast and easy.
Good for you to get honours and I hope you keep getting them too.

Hiya syoti,
Gel Pen? I think I know what sort you mean yes. They are really good to write with nice and easy flow.
I have had one or two of those but wore them out. Have not seen any good ones like that just lately either.
I love a Pen like that to be able to write and write without them hurting your fingers either.
Having to make do with Pens that blotch all the times I dislike them a lot as they are wasteful and not good to use at all.

Gel pens for me is a must. I find the flow of the pen gets my creative brain to sort of feel the wordings in which then get locked in my memory. I especially use the black ones simply because I find the writing to be a bit more professional for me.

That's nice and clever of you. But i guess, you did your part of reading and scanning your notes and you have a retentive memory. In addition, you are relaxed because you slept and a good sleep refreshes our brains, so you did well in your exams. The pen ? I think it's also a factor but not that much.

Well I'm not so sure friend what type of sign pen you use but being left handed I just cannot use any writing instrument that blots easily couse my palm might run on it. so it's just my same old trusted Parker ball pen that I have been using for 30 years LOL, I would agree with you though that sleeping after studying is helpful cause the brain is like a huge date bank where we can store so many things and we could get it in the sub-conscious when we need it, sleep is like hypnosis, so put in all the data then sleep

I've never heard of a sign pen. Besides a pen, what is it? What makes it special?

Gel pens are my favorite also. I've just never heard them called that before.

That sounds interesting, I've never thought of a utensil for writing having the power to help remember things. Although I think I've had similar experiences, such as in Chemistry where I used my favorite pens and felt good about my notes. When it came time to test we had to use pencils, but I still felt confident from the smooth feel of writing with my best pen. Sounds weird I know, but hey it worked. ;)

Perhaps having something like that gives you this kind of confidence that nothing else would grant you. With confidence, you get to do things better compared to being uncertain and cautious. Feeling good does reap good results and negativity would somehow grand negative results as well.
A player might perform better whenever he wears his lucky socks or a spokes person would conveniently deliver his speech to a large crowd just because he believes that holding a paper clip would help him relax. In your case, the confidence that you get from using that sign pen.

haha =D IT's just personal preference to what one is using. When one is familiar with something, it automatically becomes their personal charm and they believe it brings them luck. WIthout it, they will feel lost and vulnerable.. lol =D It's the same like smokers, give them a stick to light up, they will feel invincible, but when they are deprived of it, they feel weak even when they are not doing anything.. lol =D

You have a good memory and the mind for study. It is not the pen, dear friend. It is you. Perhaps the type of pen you use is easier for you to write clear notes. Some pens can be messy.
Congrats on your good grades!

I like your theory because I myself liked the point pen or the gel pen to write in the exams. It makes me special and yes it feels like I am writing my own mind. It looks fresh attractive and somewhat natural.
I never gave much thought about it but after reading your discussion I think I should have given much thought to this theory and should have used this point pen in every exam I gave. Have a nice day ahead.
