I know everyone or most people love Movies like me but, now and days you see movies that are being remade for a new generation to see. Recently went to the Movies and I saw the movie called BEASTLY it was a remake of the beauty and Beast but in the teen and adult version of the movie. I enjoy that movie a lot loved it really. Also a another movie is coming out in my area that is called Red Riding Hood. Same thing as the legend cartoon or story of little red riding hood haha. But more for adults and teens. What do you think about this Taking the Old and Making it New.

To me it is like everything in life, we sort of recycle. Everything we do in life is about creativity. Where we do all the same things pretty much and each time we sort of spice it up a bit. As for the movie same concept, because if you think about it the movies all really mean the same, just a little spicing to make it end sadder or merrier.

Hey mariggles" Yeah in the beauty and the beast the carttoon / Disney version was nice but when i was a kid it has a love feeling and a nice one too. As we grow up we don't bother to watch those movies anymore. But watching beastly it was pretty much the same thing but, the only thing was that the love was deeper and the meaning was stronger which had a stronger impact in the end. Gave love a new look very good movie

Beastly isn't a "remake" of Beauty and the Beast. It's an adaptation of a novel which was a re-telling of Beauty and the Beast in modern day. Beauty and the Beast is a story that's been around for ages, and I don't know that I would call any movies based on it remakes. Remakes are new films based on old films. There have been film adaptations of Beauty and the Beast before, but Beastly wasn't based on any of them. Retellings usually have a new spin on things, as is the case with Beastly. I haven't seen it yet myself, but I read and loved the book so I do plan on seeing it sometime very soon. For the most part I like retelling, new adaptations, and re-makes. I think it's good that we take old stories and tell them again, the exact same way or in new ways. The trailers for Red Riding Hood just plain scare me... not in the sense that they're scary but in the sense that they've totally Twilightified Little Red Riding. I will NOT be seeing that.

Hey allyoftherain, I wouldn't say beastly is like a totally remake of the beauty and the beasty but it has parts similar to it the action taken and the lesson learn and the whole thing being about love lol. But yeah little red riding hood looks scary i agree with that haha

I'd call it a re-telling of an old fairy tale. Remake is the term you use for a new film that's based on an old film. Beastly isn't based on any old films. It's based on a novel which is based on an old fairy tale. Yes, naturally it's very similar to other movies based on the same old fairy tale... but it isn't a remake of any of those old movies. Red Riding Hood looks like it's trying to cash in on the Twilight craze by using the forbidden love with a monster card. I like Twilight... but not forbidden love. I think I'll pass. lol

Well, this remakes of movies actually has something new to offer in any way. Some make changes in the flow of the story to give it a twist it is like making UPGRADES and creating link to the present generation. So some things that weren't there before in the original movie we already there.

Personally I'm not a fan of all the movies that have been remade. Yes, the new generation of watchers might enjoy it, but for anyone who's seen the original of any of them its, more often than not, a disapointment. The new Karate Kid is one of my biggest pet peves! I think some things should just be left alone. While I realize that the special effects and picture quality are better now, things like Halloween which was remade by Rob Zombie were a huge disapointment for me. I would rather watch the originals. As far as making cartoons and childhood stories into adult/teen movies I'm not sure I agree with that either. Let the kids keep their fairy tales and cartoons without adding any adult innuendos to them. That is however just my personal opinion.

Hey Mary, Yeah I agree.. Something should be left alone some movies shouldn't be change like if ey change star wars I will go crazy and won't watch the crap haha. But yeah I thought both karate kids were both good movies but, I think they did a good job but it will never replace the old versions I guess we should see it as the new generation will find it more interesting I guess

I haven't heard of the movie Beastly but I have seen the trailer of Red Riding Hood. With movies like these, I must say I am quite excited with how they remake old movies and give them a really good twist especially with the storyline and characters. As long as the movie is something worth watching for, then it's all good for me. The story may not be original but at least filmmakers must do something to make the movie interesting.

It depends on the film. If remaking a film with the use of current technology will make it better. I think this applies to Tron. I saw the original version and the use of special effects back then is nothing compared to what we can accomplish today. In terms of storyline, in my opinion movie producers should push themselves to also create films that would mark this generation.

It is good if Hollywood does it correctly, which most of the time they do not. They are remaking all the fairy tale stories (Snow White & the Little Mermaid are on the way) because they know that the audience need a story to escape to more and more with all the terrible things going on in the world now. It's a form of escapism. These fairy tale stories is one of those forms. I just hope that by remaking the old into something new, they don't lose the integrity and plot and characters that made these fairy tales so timeless to begin with.

I think that it's a shame that there are so few Original hollywood movies. Most of the remakes are really bad and just an attempt to earn money ofcourse, it's rarely about the art anymore! One movie I would like to see a remake of is Congo, a movie made shortly after Jurassic Park just to profit from it's success because Michael Chrichton wrote them both. Jurassic Park was great but Congo could be better. I actually can't imagine Hollywood could make a Congo remake even worse than the original, lol. Have a nice day!
