Is Techno too simple?

Everytime i meet someone who doesn't like techno all they always say is :"Techno is too simple, it's just "Bum, Bum , Bum" paired with a simple melody".
I personally don't think so, because firstly i have tried to create own techno music. It was hard for me to find an earcatching combination ( but which probably comes from my lack of musical talent...). And even if techno was too simple, i don't see how music needs to be complex too be good. It's all about expressing feelings, so if i feel like "Bum, Bum, Bum", it fits.
Having stated my own opinion about this, i would like to know your feelings about techno? Do you like/hate techno? How do you feel about it and the meaning of music?

I love techno. It really depends on what kind of techno you listen to, as there's a "minimal" sub-genre that's basically the definition of what your friend considers techno.
I myself listen to rave and drum and bass, and it's much more complex than "bum bum bum" with a simple melody.

It's something I've ever done. I was wonder if these people that are telling you Techno is simple are they doing it. You are correct music doesn't need to be complexed to be good.

I never got the meaning of techno. Is it oldies/rock? I don't really hate it. But I don't really like it. It is just ok. Although my friends love it for some reason.
