It really bugs me that our street police officer are abusing the the very law they are to enforce. I've seen this too many times and just wandering if this bother anyone else? You're driving toward an intersection with stop lights up ahead, suddenly comes a police car no siren at first, then approaching the traffic lights, siren comes on, then it weave through the red light intersection. Once it passes no more than two car. Siren turned off and goes its merry way. No emergency! just didn't want to stop at the light! Here you are having to pull to the side, cause you're suppose to when you hear siren right? But I see this happens so many times that it not funny anymore...never was but.... What should you do? I want to call it in, but they are so speedy, can't see any details on the cop car other than it's a cop car...

How do you know that there is no emergency? Police only need to use their sirens to alert other road users of their presence when not doing so could cause an accident. If a police car is driving to an emergency on an empty road then they do not need their sirens on, waking the whole neighbourhood.

If it was a true emergency, the cop should continue with its speed to get to the emergency yeah? The cases I'm speaking of don't. There are plenty of cars and if it was truly an emergency they want to keep the road clear so they can get to the emergency right? I've seen just as many cops who uses their siren for the right reason, you can totally see the difference...It does not take a genius to notice the differences in their driving behavior..

I've seen something like that before. I was on the highway and I saw these cpo lights ahead. And then I couldn't see them anymore really soon. And then I would see them again, then they'd disappear. Finally I was driving by the cop car and saw what he was doing. He was going into the exiting lanes, turning on his lights and then quickly getting back on the highway lane, pushing forward just to get ahead of other cars. Yeah that made me mad, but that doesn't make me think poorly about other cops that do obey traffic laws. And I also think about this...yeah that cop might be driving like a jerk...but that doesn't mean he's not one of those cops that would take a bullet to protect someone else. If you see what city the cop works for (I think it's on the side of their car) you can find the precinct and complain. Even if you don't have specific info on which officer it was, the sheriff (or someone) could talk to all the officers about driving more fairly.

I would definitely be annoyed if I would ever see anything like that. Although I must say that I have heard a lot cases where police officers use their siren just to get past a traffic light or get ahead of the traffic jam for personal use. It sucks to know that the authorities and the law makers are the number one law-breakers.

Well, if that was the case then who would not be annoyed. Those abusive cops ought to be reported and complained to their officers. They are the law enforcers , yet they are the lawbreakers!

It is a common issue with us too and being that both of us are from the US it is the same issues. I have seen when not only they put the siren but they also speak loudly on their speakers for us drivers to pull over then they rush across and turn off siren and drive at normal speed. Really there is nothing anyone person can do because the police work together and they will tell you on the phone that they will look into it and they do not. I know a police officer and he told me they cover for one another and the reason why they do this is because they can. That is wrong!!

I am glad that here in the Philippines the abusive use of sirens are now banned. Only the ambulance can use it knowing it operates on emergency purposes only. I think it really should be reported. Some cops are just so annoying because they take the privilege of being a cop just to do abusive behaviors. I for one saw a cop here who is supposed to fix the traffic yet he was his whistle while laying pretty on one the benches outside a store. Convenient isn't it? I had this cop reported to his superior I don't know what punishment was given to him.
