Being a dog lover I have always had a dog, from the time I was little. And I got to thinking about all the different breeds I've owned, and how different they were. I have had dachshunds, bassets, blue heeler, golden retriever, dobermans, chocolate lab, cheasapeak bay retriever, black mouth cur, black mouth cur/pit bull, rat terrier, american eskimo (my daughter's, which I'm keeping for her for now), and several mixed breeds, aka mutts. Each one had a different personality, size, some short hair, some long. How many different breeds of dogs have you owned? I would ask which was your favorite, but I can not even choose one favorite, they were all different, and all loved.

And what we called mutts or mixed-breeds are now called 'designer' dogs lol

Hello Palonghorn,
Considering that I can't own more than a dog at a time, I haven't had too many dogs until now. I had my first dog (an Airedale Terrier) at 25 and now I'm only on my second dog (also an Airedale). I fell in love with Airedales and I thought I would never have another type of dog. But I know that I won't be able to start all over with such a high energy dog when Binne will have to go. I will be an old lady by then and I think I should consider a not so energetic dog. Maybe an abandoned adult will be my companion then.

My family has had a lot of mutts. We adopt from shelters, so we don't really usually have pure breeds. The only pure breed we have is a golden retriever, she was a gift. We also had a huskie before that we rescued off the street.
The mutts we've had these breeds mixed around in them: lab, rottweiler, pit bull, german shepherd, and who knows what else! lol
