Why do people get insane?

Upon my travel going home, I saw a woman sitting along the road side. She is shouting, somewhat angry and pointing at NO ONE.
Actually, I've seen lots of people who were insane, walking wearing just an underwear and sometimes talking to someone visible.
Can you imagine yourself being insane a few years from now? LOL
I'm just wondering, how did these people become insane? Does it has something to do with problems? Genes? Hormones?
What do you think?

Are you too lonely to stop writing such a discussion!?And there's no joke here. For there are too many persons suffering such a illness!Among them there were two of my siblings.
If you are willing to explain, there are too many reasons, maybe genes, hormones or others; If you will not speak out,you can say that's all because of someone's destiny.
Here I want to say,to cherish yourself is the most important, just not to think of too much and not to seek too many.

maybe life got to her. probably due to too much stress. i also read about it before that it (mental illness) is hereditary. there are many types of mental illness, and there are also many factors causing these illnesses.
coincidentally, i saw one this morning too. i was on the bus and i saw this woman sitting along the highway and shouting at no one in particular. =)

I think so. The woman I saw was in rage... She's really mad while shouting. Maybe family problem had caused her insanity. I pity those people. It's like they don't have enough strength to carry those problems they encountered. And most of them are the poor people who don't have enough money to solve their problems like hunger and some illnesses.
