I have a very important Mylot question, please help.

I was like some of the new members to Mylot. At one time, even though I had read all of the guidelines, believe it or not, everything didn't sink in. I have seen many discussions and responses recently where Lamb, Vonman, Mysdianant and others have attempted to answer a question about how to earn in a post, but I don't think some understand it anyway. Apparently, I didn't.
Thus this question: Since I was ignorant in the beginning and didn't quite understand how to earn on Mylot, after looking at the attempt by some of you to explain this, I decided this morning to go back to my posts from when I first joined Mylot. Just like I thought, many of the have responses that I have not responded to. If I play catch up on those now, will I earn?

Yes!
The official info from myLot never talks abou this being a site for 'posting'.
It is all about discussing and if you count how many times it is mentioned on this page it makes it very clear:
http://www.mylot.com/o/whatismylot.aspx
This why many of us, over and over again, try to get the message across that there is NO need to start new topics, especially if the previous ones that you started have not become discussions because you did not follow up on them.
The OFFICIAL answer, by admin, to your question can be found here at response #1:

Happy to help!
We do get a bit tired but we also are concerned that we appear to have nothing else to do than expalain, share and guide others. Our only intent is to encourage everyone to do things in the manner that myLot suggest and get as much out of the time that they spend here as we do.
Happy commenting!

mysdianait, that is a very very good explanation, like I am sure it as been put by you so many times. I finally know what it means. Yes, it makes sense not to start a new discussion is you havent disscused the other. Thanks.

It's cool how that works. I have had old discussions revived that I forgot I'd even written. I'll start to reply to them as if they were someone elses discussion and all the while thinking .."wow..I can really relate to this person" and then realize that it was my discussion to begin with. And I will tell the world that ADD doesn't exist and NO I don't have it!

Yes. That is very true. I have recently been going back to old discussions, and I ave had people come back and respond again, and I guess the discussion moves to the top, cause then others start responding also. So yes, it does bring some of them back to life afterall.
I have had someone respond and I respond and they come back and say 'man, I just noticed you started this discussion TWO 2 years AGO! When someone did that yesterday , I just laughed out loud. It just hit me as being so funny to hear someone express that way. I mean to SEE someone express it that way!

Hi Chrystaltears. I try to respond to everyone that response to me and try to respond to as many discussions as I can. The way you earn here on my lot is to post discussions and respond to discussions as much as possible daily. You can earn by doing searches on here even doing the alerts that apply to you. But the best you will do is by doing things that are legit. If you have legit searches then do them here on my lot you will earn from that. There are many ways to earn on here if you have the time to spend on here. This is the only site that I have ever been on and actually been paid by my lot. Good luck and hope some of this will help you.

You know what? I don't get emails that tell me someone has responded. I just come back a hundred times and look. I guess I need to get back to my preferences or whatever and check the box that says do you want emails telling you when someone responds to your discussions. The only emails I have checked are, do you want emails when one of your mylot friends does a discussion (no, that isn't on there to check. They are just sent, cause I tried to uncheck it but it wasn't there) and the one about notifications from mylot. Oh yeah and private messages from friends.
Have to go check that one so I know hen I get rsponses.

Yes, free_man, your answer has been quite helpful after all. Yes, I had to learn finally that I need to respond to my responses. It never crossed my mind at first that I needed to do that. I was just always curious if I got any responses or how many I ended up with and I would read them out of curiosity, but I never even thought to respond back to them. Isn't that crazy!

Hi Chrystaltears. I responded to this discussion 7 months ago and you are just now responding. That's odd to me if I write a discussion I try to respond to the responders as soon as I get an email saying someone one has responded. But then there are times that I don't get the emails. I wonder what is up with that. Good luck and hope you are doing okay on here. I think it is very important to respond to the responders. That is one way to make a few cents on here. The more you respond to those that respond to your discussion the more you earn. And when they respond to the response you posted then they earn.

Yes, yes, do comment back on everyone who responded on your discussions. It is the way earning money here also of being polite to those who had responded.
I hate it when people just dropped discussions after discussions without bothering to comment back.

Oh my goodness! I cannot believe, especially after the topic of this discussion, that I did not respond to these particular responses. That is soooo crazy. Shows where my head was back at that time! No where, apparently.
I apologize, and here your response to my not commenting was that yes, I should come back and respond because you hate it when someone doesn't come back.
It is rude, no maybe just thoughtless. I don't know about me sometimes. I think I must be kind of slow, you know mentally. I've always known I wasn't the smartest cookie in the box, but I never realized I was in this bad of shape!
I'm going to try to get better. I think I have in the last couple of weeks tho.

Hello dear!
Well, most of the responses answered your questions already but still I would want to reply, lol!
You see,I gained real friends here by responding to their replies and the bonus is,I learned that I'm earning from it! That's why it is called a discussion, there should be a back and forth answers. When I was a newbie here,I do respond once but I can't help replying more than once to the seniors here 'cause they reply that needs an answer, lol! But it's very much fine 'cause you will earn from it anyway.
Enjoy LJ,I mean chrystaltears,lol! Love your username,my baby's name is Crystal,hehe!
See yah!

Oh mtrguanlao, you are always so nice and friendly and cheery to talk to. Wish I could stay up like that. Yes, I am learning to respond like I should. That is showing respect actually, but I wouldn't disrespect anyone on purpose. I was just not staying on here long enough each time I came back after being gone 3 or 4 months, so I really wasn't learning much, and one of the things it took me a while to learn was to respond to responses. I won't ever let anyone down again. I hope. Anyway, it will totally be an accidental lookover if I let it happen.!

Of course you will Chrystal. I have been here a long time, but it did take a long time for the concept of commenting on responses to soak in for me as well. I think part of it had to do with the section of the guidelines that says not to go through and thank each person who responds, as you will not earn. I might occasionally comment on a response at that time, but not consistently. I have had people respond to some of my posts that were four years old and if they do, I go ahead and comment back. You may find that some of the people who respond are no longer active, but go ahead and respond anyway.

Thank yo gardengerty. Quite a name you have there. Makes me curious. Do you like to work in the garden and your name is gertrude or something similar? My brother has a solid white german shephard who he has named Gerty!
Yes, I am catching up some now that I know it will benefit me, but also, I find it makes me, myself, sometimes feel disrespected if someone doesn't bother to answer my clever responses!! lol

You most definitely will earn, no matter how old the discussion is. I have posted to many a discussion that was old, but because It interested me and I knew I would earn from them, then I just went ahead and posted. Actually, by commenting back to discussions you started, it keeps them going, and that is what we want to do. After all, mylot is about discussing, and learning from those discussions. As long as you participate, you will earn, as you earn for what you do, and not what others do. Good luck to you and happy mylotting.

Thank you rosekiss. Very nicely said. I am learning. I think I actually understand it clearly now. How about that. After only about 2 years here. Thanks again.

You get paid for what you write, so if you respond back to someone hopefully you get a discussion going, where you go back and forth so the participants get paid for it.
Does that make sense? That sentence is a mess isn't it?
Basically, a discussion comprises 2 or more people sharing their views. Just like when you use a chat client to talk to someone.

Hello friend,
I think irrespective of you responding to your discussion or others discussion you should be able to earn.. when I had few questions similar to yours, people have told me that no matter how old the discussion is you will still earn if you respond to them and I think this should hold good for self discussions as well..so I think all it matters is responses and it doesn't matter who you are responding to.. I think I am right and this info will be helpful

It does not matter how old a discussion is. When you respond to any discussion, you get paid for it.

Hi edsss, you have recently changed your photo, haven't you. I knew the name was familiar, but I couldn't place you because of the photo. I actually looked the other day to see if there were two edsss with something different attached to one name than the other. Didn't come up with anything.
Yes, I did get some good answers, didn't I?
