Kids Losing their Childhood

A few days ago, my mother told me to help my nine years old sister with her schoolwork. And, as soon as I opened her book, I was surprised to see that she is taking up what I took up when I was in late HighSchool. And she is just in grade 4. Sure, learning is good. But a child can only be a child once. And making them do these advanced studies give them stress and worry about failing. Harsh training is needed for us to go with life. But these are kids we are talking about. They should not worry over these things and enjoy their childhood more.

Actually there is no harm in making a child do advanced studies provided the child is capable of doing it. There are children who are mentally advanced. The problem is most teachers tend to view children as being equal. Hence learning no longer becomes fun to most of them. When I was a teacher I gave Maths questions according to mental ability. Imagine six 8 year olds doing complex problems a few years beyond their age with ease. They liked it, and so did their parents. I rarely gave them homework because I wanted them to have some play time at home. What is important is that te teacher understands the different levels of understanding between the pupils. It is not easy, but a compromise can be found.

Now that you mentioned it. It is true. It is more about the teachers. But sadly, in our country, the teachers are just following a curricular that they teach the students. So the students here are in a keep up or fail the subject situation.
