So I connected my wii to the tv and I want to record me playing the game. Instead of going to the ghetto way and recording the tv with a camera using a tripod what is another method I can use that will record exactly what is on the tv?

You need a video capture card. You can buy a cheap external USB plug and play card to do this. They are bundled with software needed to capture TV/Video. If you want to use your computer as a digital video recorder, internal cards have more possibilities and are often bundled with a CD/DVD burner software.

An USB capture can be bought for less than $10 on Ebay, including shipping, and you can find some auctions beginning at $0.01 -- but beware of the price for the shipping -- : it is cheap. Indeed, at this price it will not be a professional card, but enough for what you want to do.
