You can use AVS$ video tools. This amazing software able to any video formate to cut,convertand more tools. You can use free tools any video convertor.

The only software I know to do this is the freeware MatroskaSplitter -- Haali Media Splitter -- : http://haali.su/mkv/ Video editors do not support MKV : you will have to convert your video in another format in order to use a better video editor, but you risk to lose quality and to get a larger file. Indeed it depends of what you want to do : by example you can add as much soundtracks as you want in an AVI, and I had to convert some MKV because I was struggling to display their codecs...
