Well actually I'm starting to control my eating habits and loose some weight at the same time too, coz i know I can be eating for hours if I don't control. I don't eat anything after 7pm usually, but sometimes if i get hungry, I eat fruits like bananas and oranges. Ok now can you guys tell me if that is good?? I mean I'm trying to loose some weight, so is it good to eat fruits at night before sleep?? Do i have any chances of gaining weight because of that??
Thanks^^

I aet fruit at night, as well as other things like nuts, seeds, meat; and I managed to lose a lot of weight in that month(with exercise of course).
It matters more of what you eat and not so much when you eat it. I frown upon eating grains, processed stuff, and milk products.
I don't really think the time of day affects how your food is metabolized as much as people hype it up to.

Not all the "types" of food you desire, but the healthy ones, yes. You don't "have" to exercise to lose weight, but you really "should"; along with eating healthier it is the best way to do it, and best for your body.
I ate as much "healthy" food as I wanted when I trained a lot (around 4000+ calories a day: quite a lot of food, because healthier food has less calories per portion); but, I did train a lot, and I mean a lot- probably more than the average person would be able to even fit in their day, let alone be able to do.
Remember, you can't eat as much as you want- you can't just sit down and eat 15 apples in front of the TV or something like that... But, when you eat healthy, you can eat more than you were before, portion-size-wise.

Hi,
Eating fruit is good for our health.Since you plan to lose some
weight, addinf fruits into your diet plan is definitely a great choice.
I don't see any problem eating fruits at night, sometimes I do feel
hungry at night, and I just grabbed banana to fulfill my hunger.
The best thing to lose weight is doing an exercise and having a diet menu
everyday. Reduce your food consumption.

I do the same..try to control eating hahaha though it is hard but i have been successful lately, been losing weight now. Anyways, yes do eat fruits but a friend of mine advised and take this on me, she really did loose a lot of weight, back in college she was just so chubby all flabby! but now she is soo slim and sexy! all she did was take on more veggies and fruits and no meat at all and no rice at all...she said that if you would feel hungry at night, do not eat bread, just fruit. but if you will eat a fruit only eat one banana, yes just one, medium one, or one apple or one orange and nothign else! it is so hard but she said you will eventually get used to it
goodluck to both of us hehhe

Wow that is so cool. i'll definitely start doing this (though i love meat a lot. especially fried chicken ). i wanna loose weight so bad and summer is slowly approaching too. So Ok, is it no rice at all even at day time? and just fruits and veggies no matter it's day or night?? Is it correct?? Wow does sound hard but will definitely give it a try. Thanks a lot jazel_juna. Have a good day. And good luck to us. WE CAN DO IT =D

you can cut it off slowly thatgirl...not drastically or you might starve yourself..why not cutting down into one rice per meal..and then half rice..to no rice. because it might make you weak..

Supplementing diets with fruits is great, but I do not eat them at night. If I am short of going to bed the fruit would raise my energy and hence not allow me to sleep. Something about fruits for me that raise my energy level then drops me like Valium.
I personally will have a bowl of cereal at night which normally is Special K, this not only is trans fat free it is healthy and yummy for me!

Yes I did follow the pattern as it has stated but I also exercised which also helped. I did follow strictly and to date, because my metabolism increasing I am able to eat just about anything, although I do at times supplement, like instead of my ultimate favorite of thousand island dressing I may instead use vinegrette. I may at times skip the mayonaise, anything I know is high in trans fat.
I do not mind answering your questions at all, best of luck.

That is exactly what coffee does to me.
You eat Special K?? Does it work?? I have finished 2 boxes already and it doesn't seem to work on me. And honestly I don't like the taste of it that much.

Actually we don't get flavored Special K in the mart where I usually go to, just the plain one. So did you take 2 bowls of Special K everyday. I mean did you follow it strictly?? And did you just do it for 2 weeks or for how long??
I hope you don't mind answering my questions coz I'm thinking of starting it again, the diet i mean =D

I haven't heard someone every complained of gaining weight from eating fruit at night, but I know that fruit contains a lot of fiber and helps out clean your body which causes you to loose weight. I eat fruits before eating any food at all. It just hard to fight old bad habits on my part tho' heheh!! :D

Fruit is a healthy choice, but it has calories too. I'm sure eating one banana or an orange isn't going to hurt you calorie wise...well, maybe the orange. I would worry about eating an orange at night because of the possibility of it causing heartburn.
@rowantree (1186)

Oranges are acidic, so yes, they can cause heartburn and they can upset an ulcer. I've been eating oranges too, had really bad heartburn and while at the doctor's for a follow up on a kidney infection, he noticed I had an ulcer too. He banned oranges from my diet. If they're not causing you any problems, I wouldn't worry about it!

Fruits don't contain fat. So we won't get weight from eating fruits anytime of the day. I also eat some fruits in the evening when I am hungry. But a better time to eat fruits is in the morning.

i was able to lose and maintain my current weight by not only eating fruits at night but by substituting any processed carbs like rice or bread with fruit during every meal. try it. you'd feel full faster and longer. plus craving for sweets would disappear because you'd get the sweetness we all love in many fruits. that's the surest and fastest way to lose and maintain a nice weight.

I think eating fruits at night is okay.
Sometimes, when i would try to lose a pound or two, i would just eat pineapple ( the whole small sweet one) and drinks 2 glasses of water. Believe me, after 3 hours, i would go to the comfort room to defecate.

If you are physical active during the day, I mean really do work out, walking/ jogging for 30-40 minutes, you have the burning fat process going,it's okay to eat one fruit in the evening. But if not are doing any hard physical exercises during the day, it's better to have a vegetable like a carrot, broccoli, lettuce, cucumber in the evening.

Dinner does make you fat, if appropriate portion.
Eating fruit does not make you fat.
Instead, eat fruit can add nutrients, vitamins, and minerals in the body.
So, it does not matter if you eat any fruit at night, provided in accordance with the portions.

My in-laws, once told me. If you are hungry at night, it's better to eat fruit. My in-laws say, eating too late, not good for health, because at night, our bodies do not move, and then sleep. This is not good. All you are doing, very good, and quite appropriate.

Hi it's okay if you eat fruits at night; fruits are good for our body and if it's good for our body, this means good for our health too. You can even eat fruits alone for a month if you like to loose weight. If you want to replace a protein diet with a fruit, eat avocados; for a carbo, you can replace it with banana and for vitamins and mineral, eat apples, oranges and so on and so forth. There's nothing bad in fruits. Good luck.

For me, have some fruits before sleep is good because fruit have a lot of fiber and it help in digesting. It's even good if you just take fruit as your dinner because we are encourage not to take heavy food as our dinner.
I remember last time my friend feel likes don't want to eat for the whole week. I asked him to eat fruits only for few days especially dinner. He did it for 3 days and he was cure after that.

hey girl, I'm trying to lose weight too as you. I've gained over 3kg last winter and now it is March, I'm planning to lose 1.5kg at the end of March. Though it is not much but it seems to be very hard for me to lose weight. These days I'm controlling my every diet, for breakfast only a small bowel of porriage with some nuts or an apple or an egg. I'll have a light lunch which is usually some vegetables with a little rice. And for dinner only a cup of yogurt with a fruit. I tried to do some yoga at home learning from online programs. 20 min's exercise every day. But for the daytime I need to sit in the office for 9-10 hours with heavy work. So no chance to exerice. I constrained myself not to eat anything after 6pm or 7pm, even fruits. Still, it seems that I just controlled my current weight and losed only a slight portion. just 1kg for the past month:S

Fruits are healthy foods. They are rich in vitamins good for the skin, eyes and your health over-all. As per your diet, I think it is highly recommended too if you want to lose weight, since fruits are high in fiber.
Just watch over your intake of citrus fruits. If you are hungry and have not eaten anything yet, do not take a lot of citrus like oranges. This might cause your tummy to be sour and might develop ulcer.

eat water-filled fruits...you'll bother the loo for the night, but you will feel good inside in the morning...
skip thebanana, it is a total meal. have it for lunch and you will see how full you would fill after having it, with water, or juice, or milk, much better. :}
