Are Hostels dangerous?

Hi asianjabba, Like any hostel and or hotel in the world it has it's goods and draw backs too. I have heard of many staying in hostels here in IL and the most I have heard was the bed bugs was a major issue. Not sure about Manhattan, I guess it would be best if you went online and checked out some reviews from others that may have stayed there, so that it gives you an idea.

i just want to add if there's a ymca in the area, check it out.

Hi asianjabba, i have never been to Manhattan hostel but i have stayed in hostel during my engineering, but those are just like the hostels showed in movies but not completely, so you get worry, by the way what are you more worried about?

Have you tried Priceline? You can get some good deals on hotels. I've stayed in hostels but not in NYC.

hello friend! i do not think that hostel is dangerous.i like to stay in hostel.but now i am in a flat i really miss my hostel life.it was great.lot of fun with lots of friends.no i do not think it is scary i really love that day.it was a great time in my life. thanks a lot.

In india, i am seeing many dangerous murder news about who are effecting by living in hostels...

Hopefully, asianjabba, you will get some-one from NYC, responding here..but there is also some good advice in checking out the YMCA, as they are standardized and regulated throughout the country. In my country, Canada..as in Europe..Hostels are quite accomodating, clean and regulated, a good source of meeting travellers, like you...most offer seperate rooms, etc. Movies, are movies...and they tend to use anything as a base for the story, so I think I would take it just as that!
