Have you heard of this "Escape A Date" Service from your cell phone(Cingular)? This service allows you to set a time for your cell phone to ring as if someone is calling you, during a bad first date. When your phone rings, it will give you a 'dialogue' to repeat as if something came up so that you can ditch your bad first date! Would you ever used this? What are your thoughts about this? Have you.. and if so, did it work?

I have never heard of this service. It sounds a bit like a backup plan for having a bad date in advance. What can we think of next to ditch a date we don't want?

I've never heard of this kind of stuff but I find it interesting :) Maybe I can use it as an excuse in a bad situation. Our technology nowadays can really make things easier for us escape or do the things we want in just a sec.

How funny! Cingular really has it going on and has a great sense of what people need and want. That is so in their favor. I don't have a cell phone but I can recall some dates I sure could have used this service. I would wonder if it would go well and if anyone would notice it was fake-? I would be curious to hear others stories.

Awwh for me that would be a bit cruel, unless of course the date was so bad that I was afraid of my safety. But no I had not heard of it before, and it does not surprise me that technology today is making it that much more easy for us to escape and or use with ease. If the date was just something I could not bare again, I think it would be easy for me to say to the person, thank you for a lovely evening but I am not interested in a second. lol

I've heard about this before. I think it's a useless service. It just gives people a reason to lie to a bad date. End the date earlier if you don't like your date. Be honest with him/her and tell them you had a good everning but would only be willing to be friends. It's a waste of money (cause I'm sure this won't be for free). By the way, it's so easy to set the alarm clock (and the ring tone) on your phone to a specific time, just in case you really want to use the "someone is calling me and needs me" tactic.

I have never used it , since I get my wireless phone service from Verizon Wireless, but it sounds like a great service to me! I am often in that situation, or just wanting to avoid talking or being around someone! I wish my cell phone provider would come up with a service like that... I would definitely use it all the time to escape!

There are iPhone apps that do that. Remember back in the ok'd days when one had to make arrangements with a FRIEND to call during the date? Lol I saw this done on Frasier years ago. Lol
