Dear All. I will be going to Bangkok with another 4 of my friends in mid of June this year. Currently we're busy doing surveys on where to visit, stay etc. If you have been to Bangkok, or if you are a regular tourist to bangkok, appreciate if you could share you experience in Bangkok, share with us where is the must visit place or must try food etc. I tried to look thru website and i find most of it are too commercialized . It would be great if I could get some feedback from all of you. Thanks :)

siewching_0908,
For accommodation wise, I would recommend that you stay either around Siam Square or Pratunam which are known to have really good quality and value for money rooms. Most of all, these places are known for their shopping and eating hotspots. You may want to consider according to my order of preference: Pathumwan Princess, Novotel Siam Square, Asia Hotel, Arnorma Hotel, Baiyoke Suite and Indra Regent Hotel.
Shopping wise, once you are staying in these hotels then you will be within close proximity to the best shopping spots like MBK, Discovery Center, Siam Square, Pratunam Wholesale and the notorious Patpong Night Market. In addition, you may want to go to the Chatuchak Weekend Market and the BoBae Arcade at Thanon Phokhi, Khlong Maha Nak, Pom Prap Sattru Phai, if you find this daunting just ask the taxi to take you to Prince Palace Maha Nak Hotel where you will find the wholesale of wholesale for clothing and accessories.
Eating wise, you may want to go for the the Coca Suki Steamboat at Siam Square, Oishi Japanese Buffet at Discovery or Bird's Nest Soup in Yaowarat (Chinatown). If you do not like to move about especially dislike getting caught in their renowned traffic jams then you may want to spend your entire day in MBK where you will also get to dine in fine Thai food restaurants or go right to the 5th floor where you will find an array of local delights in food court settings.
After all the eat and shop till you drop, you may want to consider a rejuvenating and enjoyable traditional Thai massage which is really a must.

Been to Bangkok once and I don't really plan to go back! :-)
Mainly because it was far too warm for me, not only because we apparantly chose the warmest time of the year to go there. Far too much sun, so I got all dizzy and felt sick :-/
But the temples were great, and we went to a very nice museum. National museum or something, with crown jewels etc. Some amazing stuff in there, not a lot of people and air condition!
I got quite annoyed with all the people trying to get us to buy stuff to feed the fishes or feed the pigeons. Or rather, get me to buy, since I'm much blonder than my friend. Her parents are from Greece. I'm not going to Bangkok to feed pigeons! I can do that at home, not sure why I'd want to.
We chose not to buy food from the street, mainly because if was so warm that everything was stinking so we went to a buffet at one of the more expensieve hotels instead. Lunch buffet, and it was quite cheap really, especially compared to what we got.
