Don't get me wrong, I have no intention to discriminate or offend anyone here. I simply was curious about this social status devised by the tradition Indian society. I just wonder would this caste system still existed in India nowadays? Or as along the advancement of modern society, and the influence of Western culture, this type of social system already abolished altogether? Don't you think it is unfair to people who born in the lowest status, and have to carry this status all their lifetime? Everyone should be equal.

It is still there. It's just that people in the higher caste justify such arrangement, and they don't want to give up. If we go to rural areas, people still do practice it though the Govt of India has banned it. I guess it's stuck with religion, and that's why it persists.

caste system still exists in india.
there are honour killings in rural india when there are inter-caste marriages.
if i am not mistaken, almost all govt applications require you to declare your caste. there is still the reservations for backward castes. but currently the discrimination is against the upper-caste people; not all are rich and influential thus they are terribly affected by the reservations and quotas for the backward castes.
it is terrible to have such baseless categories of people of the exact same religion and country.
and btw, the caste system is not exactly religious category, it is societal followed since B.Cs

It is unfair but you cannot deny the fact that people living in our villages are still following this system not with so much pleasure but their economic condition plays a role to follow such system. In city I do not see any one falling under this illness of caste but in my village I can still see same thing going on which is not done but I cannot change that in a day. there is change in the thinking but that is not grown up like a person living in the city.
Thank you for sharing.
