Finding quality live music venues in your town.

In the town that I live in, there used to be alot of places to go and see some quality live performances, complete with great sound systems. I don't know if this is due to the economy, but alot of these venues have disappeared, and we are left with "Karaoke Night" and "Jam Sessions". While I enjoy these as well, I still miss seeing a live band that plays a variety of music and without charging you an arm and a leg. Does anyone here wish that they could see an old favorite play in their town and bring back some nostalgia and even be able to dance on a larger floor? (some venues have little space for this) I know my town has alot of music lovers and would be revitalized by a place that offered "Rock and Roll" night, "Jazz Night", "Country Music" night, and "Hip Hop" night, I wonder if others think along these lines when the music seems to disappear from their town. would love to hear from you on this.
