Overnight Parking Fees

Philippines

The City of Manila is imposing overnight parking fees even in residential areas citing the City Ordinance No. 8092. What a bummer!! Even cars parked in front of your houses will be towed if you will not secure and pay the overnight parking permit. I really find it absurd since these are quiet and peaceful residential areas. They are not main roads so nothing is violated here. The cars are safely parked not blocking nor causing any traffic obstraction. The mere fact that the construction of these roads were from the people's money and yet these gov't. officials are still making money out of it. I think this is too much already, don't you think? They really never run out of ways and ideas in collecting money and more money to enrich themselves...

hello santos, A what?...what the h*ck is going on with our government. Okay i understand that we should secure our own garage once we owned a car/vehicle. But gosh, securing a garage is like building a small house, plus the fact that city properties (homeland) are too small to be consumed by a garage. And you are right,as long as these cars are not creating obstraction (no double parking as well) and have enough space for another vehicle to pass, what wrong then? Money, collecting money...but they can't even give decent jobs to a million citizens of this country ugh! If this bill in Manila City ever passed,i bet neighboring cities are soon to follow.. I will have a garage set on our roof top then and asks for parking fee for my neighbors who wants to park their cars up there too Have a great day

Hi! tnx for responding jaiho2009. yes, that's very true. mostly people can no longer afford and provide for their own garage coz of, as you have said very small properties we have and the very high cost of living nowadays. so i don't think parking in front of our houses is wrong as long as it's not blocking nor causing any traffic obstruction. since these areas are residential areas, these should be exempted from that city ordinance. Well, it's good if you have the money to construct a garage on your rooftop. if that would be possible, and if that bill will be imposed on your area too, it will be a good idea, an additional income for you. Have a great day!

I agree. In fact, i'm upset when I learned from our barangay officials that I should pay not just only for this 2nd quarter but also for 1st quarter also. See, where's the logic there? What if I did not stay for the past quarter here in manila? Will I be charged of it? Another thing, as I read all of the comments here saying that "it was all about money-making". I definitely agree!! -- lanzarv
